Shannon, a private in the 51st Ohio, Infantry, served from August 1861 Coshoctor, Ohio to January 25, 1864, with a gunshot wound left arm, injury to breast and right arm, entered the Sawtelle California home for Disabled VOlunteer Soldiers, son Chal Shannon and daughter Margaret Knudson, both of Sterling, Colorado.

In 1920 he is in the Malibu, California facility as an inmate.

Thomas is living alone in Los Angeles County in 1930, 87, single.

January 25, 1911 "Word was received here yesterday by the friends of Miss Nellie V. Monroe and Chalmer Shannon, announcing that they had been united in marrage in Denver on Monday afternoon, having gone up to that city on the early morning train.
Both are well known here, having practically made this county their home aince childhood. The bride is the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jamea Monroe, who own a large farm north of this city, where they have for years made their home. The groom is equally well known here, and is a prosperous young farmer and business man. The bride has for the put few years been a teacher in tbe city schools and, up to Monday, has been teaching here this term. They have a host of warm friends throughout the county.
Just when they will return to this city, or what their plans for the future are not known, but it is generally conceded that they will continue making this county their home. The large circle of friends of both will extend hearty congratulations."

"Miss Irma Goodwin has been in charge of the 7th grade at the Lincoln school during the past few days, owing to the absence of Mrs. Chalmer Shannon, nee Miss Nellie Monroe, who was married in Denver Monday."

"Funeral services were held last Saturday for Clarence A. Bishop who died Mar. 12 in California. Rev. H. H. Lindeman officiated and burial was in the family plot in Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Bishop was born July 8, 1890 on the old homestead ranch on LaPrele Creek, now known as the Boot Ranch; the son of Spencer A. and Edith L. Bishop. He grew to manhood on the ranch and in 1908 joined the navy where he served four years.
In 1913 he was united in marriage with Blanche Burt. In 1934 they moved to Montana and later to Kellog, Idaho, where he owned and operated a general store. In 1953 they moved to California for his health.
Surviving are five brothers, L. C. of Cheyenne; Oren C. of Syracuse, New York; Arthur A. and Spencer A. of Bremerton, Washington; and Cecil L. of Riverton; four sisters, Maude Ebbert of Oakland, California; Edith L. Covington of Sacramento, California; Edna Wolfe of Casper and Mabel Rockwell of Florence, Colorado."

"Matthew D. Burt died on Friday, July 8, near Brighton, Colo., as the result of a nervous attack following a runaway of the team which he was driving, aged 61 years. Funeral services were the following Sunday at his Iate home. Deceased leaves a two sons and two daughters in Ashland from which in 1887 when he moved to Sterling, Colo. He was the father of Mrs. Rogers, formerly of Ashland. now livibg at Brighton, Colo. Mr was a man of affairs in his community and his sudden death is deeply feit there."

November 1907 "Last Saturday fourteen citizens of Denver were in Sterling making their first annual proofs on their desert claims. Their land lays under the North Sterling irrigation system between Crook and Iliff. They were Louis G. Wechback, Maurice C. Dolan, Herbert E. Johnson, Harry Kelly, Win. McPhee, Joseph P. Dunn, James A. McSwigan, Thomas Mainland, James O’Conner, Charles J. Dunn, Thomas W. Savage, Oscar Malo, Wesley F. Shannon and Ralph W. Keeley. During the past year they have put $3324.10 worth of improvements on their claims and will have well-cultivated farms when they make final proof several years hence."
