July 15, 1897 Loveland, Colorado "On Monday evening
Rev. A. Griffith united Obadiah Smith and Mrs.
Julia M. Parsons in wedlock - the wedding taking place at
the home of the groom, corner of Third avenue
and A street. Mrs. Parsons arrived at 7:28 the same
evening and was met at tho train by groomsman H. R.
Smith and taken to the scene of the affair.
When the two were pronounced one the officiating
clergyman essayed to kiss the bride, but Mr. Smith,
being the more agile of the two, circumvented the
effort and asserted his perogutive. The groom is
well-known in this community,
having for years been an esteemed resident.
The bride is mother of the wife of Rev. E. H.
Losey who was the predecessor of Rev. A. Griffith at
the united brethren church,
and now of Colorado Springs. Several parties,
including the mandolin club, contributed to the peace
and quietness of the newlywed couple during the
evening, and at 11:30 the special communication of
the Masonic Lodge adjourned to the house for a
serenade. That body presented the couple with a very
pretty water-set, and departed after a
congratulatory handshake."

(The Charles mentioned might be a brother " Charles Bingham Parsons was born in
Fletcher, December 14, 1S41, and died in Fletcher September 25, 1914, after a painful
and lingering illness of several months duration.
Mr. Parsons was a life long resident of the town of Fletcher. In 1862 he was married
to Jane A. Wetherbee, who died in 1882.
In 1884 he was married to Lucia C. Hooper, who survives him.
Mr. Parsons was a man his townsmen appear to have delighted to honor,
bestowing upon him almost every office within their gift. He served as selectman
seven years, as school director three years, as town clerk and treasurer eighteen years,
as Justice of the Peace thirty-eight years. He represented the town in 1874 and again
in 1904. Mr. Parsons was Past Chancellor Commander of Lamoille Lodge,
No. 12, Knights of Pythias, also a charter member of Cambridge Grange No. 39:,
and a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, No. 10,127.
These orders attended the funeral services in a body.
The bearers were from the Knights of Pythias, and that order conducted the services
at the service.
Mr. Parsons is survived by his wife and three children,
a daughter. Mrs. A. Lamb, of Fletcher, and two sons, Rollin C. and Jesse of Fairfax,
and a large circle of relatives and friends. Of Mr. Parsons we can truly say
a beautiful life has been lived and a good man has gone to his reward. "
