January 1908 Sterling "On Christmas C. A. Bryant and Geo. McNutt went out for a ride in Mr. Bryant's new automobile. In order that he might acquire some experience Mr. Bryant allowed Mr. McNutt to navigate the machine. The experience came right along without delay. The machine left the road and made a desperate effort to climb a telephone pole. We have not learned whether it got clear to the top or only half way. but, anyway, it was damaged so badly that it could not go any farther and they got Claude Ard to take his machine and pull it into town. Nobody was hurt and the machine will be repaired in a week or two"

Monday two ladies from Haxtun who were here on their way to Denver to buy bills of goods, visited the Glass & Bryant store and after seeing the new goods decided the Denver trip unnecessary. They bought their outfits here and expressed themselves as highly pleased with their purchases. In this department is also found trimmings, notions, lace curtains, portiers, draperies, etc. Through an archway at the rear of the dry goods department one may enter the ladies’ furnishing department, presided over by Mrs. McNutt. Ready-to-wear hats. suits, skirts, waists, muslin underwear, coats and everything for a lady’s wardrobe is to be found here, and the convenience of arrangement which characterizes the store as a who*e is apparent here most markedly.
