September 1907 Sterling "Messrs A. L. and M. Litch have had the pleasure of a visit from a brother this week, Mr. J. E. Litch, of Los Angeles, California. He is an old resident of Logan county, having lived here in 1873. He notices a number of changes since then, one of them being that the county numbered several million buffalo among its population then and not one now."

July 1909

June 1910 "While driving two horses and leading.one Monday afternoon about two miles from Merino, A. L. Litch was the victim of a serious accident. It seems that the horse Mr. Litch was leading got loose and In some manner got tangled with the team he was driving and jerked him out of the wagon and caught him between it and a telephone pole, breaking one rib and Injuring him in other ways. Fortunately Messrs. Art King and Simon Raabe happened along soon after the accident and carried Mr. Litch to Merino, where his Injuries were attended to by Dr. Lutes. He was brought to Sterling on the motor, and ut this writing Is resting as easily as could be expected under the circumstances."

November 1927 Brush "Mrs. Link Litch of Sterling and Mrs. Romannui Lambert of the state of Washington were visitors at the C. B. Simpson home Wednesday. Mrs. Lambert lived in Brush at one time, but left more than thirty years ago. She is 79 years of age and is the mother of 10 children, grandmother of 50 and great grandmother of 38."

ervices will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m., at Tennant Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Moorman officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Monroe was born July 11, 1901, to Abraham Lincoln and Estella Diffendarfer Litch in Sterling.
She grew up and attended school in Sterling. She lived in the Fleming area most of her life. On May 25, 1925 she married Burrell J. Monroe in Greeley. She moved to Sterling in 1991 and in Septem ber of 1994, she moved to Mesa with her daughter.
She was president of Colo./Wyo. Daughters of Union Veterans. She was also a member of the Fleming Methodist Church.
Mrs. Monroe is survived by daughters Mary and husband Bob Shell of Mesa, Lois and husband Tom Hughes of Hay Springs, Neb.; a son Jack, of Fleming; and a sister, Alida Harris of Haxtun;several nieces and nephews; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and brother."

Alida L. Harris, 98, of Haxtun, died March 28, 2003, in Haxtun. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 31 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on April 1 at Chaney Reager Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Schorr officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery
Mrs. Harris was born Feb. 2, 1905 in Sterling, to Abraham and Estella (Diffendarfer) Litch. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1922.
She married John Harris on Oct. 3, 1938, in Boulder.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Olive Branch Rebekah Lodge #27, Sterling Elks Does #213, Daughters of Union Veterans, and H and F Club.
She is survived by stepson Richard Harris, Sterling; step daughter Lucille Grage, Rapid City, S.D.; nephew Jack Monroe, Fleming; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brother Bill Litch; sisters Dessie Monroe and Clara Baer..
