In 1900 Phillips County, Helma, born March 1886 in Michigan, is with widowed father Bert E. July 1857 Sweden and siblings Albin J. June 1882, Annie L Jan 1884, Harry B. May 1888, Emma M. May 1890, Oscar E. June 1892, Amanda M. July 1894,and Otto S. June 1896.  The last five were born in Colorado, indicating the mother came between 1886 and 1888.

Bent Aaron Swedlund 1851-1906 and Matilda C. Swedlund 1858-1899 are buried at the Fairfield Cemetery, Phillips County.

In 1920 Logan County, Orton and Elizabeth have Beatrice E. 12, Verna 9, Mary 6, and Evelyn E. 2.

In 1930 Logan County Orton and Elizabeth have Verna 20, Mary E. 17, Evelyn E. 12, and James O. 6.

In 1940 they only have James, 15.

January 16, 1946 "Mr. and Mrs. Orton Wood, Mr. and Mrs. John Acott and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Acott and family were dinner guests on Sunday in the Edwin Swedlund home."

Ethelyn Addie Butterfield, only daughter of James Lamb Wood and Mary Ellen Bagley Wood, was born April 22, 1878 in Alexis, Illinois. She was called to her eternal home Thursday, April 17, 1947 at 5:15 p.m. at the age of 68 years, 11 months, 25 days.

In the year of 1887 she came with her parents to what is now Phillips County, Colorado where she has since resided. She was united in marriage to George A. Butterfield June 24, 1903. To this union three daughters were born. The youngest, Nira, preceded her in death at the age of 11 years in the year of 1918.

Her early life was spent on the homestead of her parent’s southeast of Haxtun. After her marriage the home was established one and one-half miles northwest of Haxtun. In the fall of 1919 she moved to Haxtun where she was privileged to live the remainder of her life.

In early childhood she was baptized and received into the membership of the Presbyterian church in Alexis, Illinois. Her letter was transferred to Holyoke when the family came to Colorado. Later she affiliated with the Methodist church in Haxtun of which her family helped in its construction and growth. She was also a charter member of the Eastern Star chapter at Haxtun.

She showed the strength of her wonderful character by being cheerful and uncomplaining and trusting God's Will during the last 18 months of failing health. It can be truly said she was an ideal mother, friend and neighbor. She was outstanding in civic activities and a lover of all the beautiful things of life.

Surviving her are: two daughters, Mary Iguerna Olson and Geneva Ethelyn Archbold, both of Haxtun; also one grandson, George A. Scott, and one granddaughter, Ethelyn Vay Archbold; four brothers, Warren D.C. Wood of Haxtun, James Burt Wood of Deep River, Washington, Henry Orton Wood of Fleming, Colorado and Joseph Gardner Wood of Denver, Colorado and other relatives and many friends.
