John Malone proved up on a quarter in 2, 8N 47W in 1893 - that's in Phillips County, about five miles from Anna's claim.

Mrs. Ann Keefe married John Malone Nov 29, 1897, recorded in Phillips County.

In 1900 Fleming precinct John Malone is a gold miner born in New York June 1860  - has been married two years to Annie Nov 1865, Iowa.  She's had three kids, two living.  James Keefe April 1889 Iowa and Mary Keefe September 1890 Colorado.


Annie proved up a quarter in 25, 9N 48W in 1911.

Anna L. M. Malone, formerly Anna L. M. Keefe, widow of John L. Keefe, proved up a quarter in 12, 8N 48W in 1901.

In 1910 Logan County, Anna is married, but no spouse listed, and she and James Keefe, 21 are farming.  Jeradin, 19, has no occupation.\

James William Keefe registered in Logan County, born in Iowa April 22, 1889.

William B. Simons is in Phillips County, Colorado in 1910, farming, 24 and his sister Florence 22, both born in Kansas, is a milliner. 

Mary J. Keefe married William B. Simmonds January 21, 1911, recorded in Phillips County.

In 1920 Morrill County, Nebraska, William Simmons is a plumber in a sugar factory, with Mary J. 29, William F. 7, Anna F. 3, and John K. 1.

In 1930 Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, William B. Simons, a mechanic at  a sugar factory, 44, born in Kansas, and Mary J. 40, Colorado have William F. 16 Colorado, Anna 12 Nebraska, and John K. 11, Nebraska.

They're still in Scotts Bluff in 1940, still at the sugar factory.  John 21 is a service station attendant, married to Wilma 20, and Anna F. Barrett, a housekeeper, has William P. Barrett, 1.

William Simons might be the one in Sioux County, Nebraska, born in Nebraska (yes, it doesn't match the previous census) in 1940, a farm laborer with Francis, 22, both born in Nebraska.  They have Barbara 2, and said they were in Scotts Bluff in 1935.  James Jenson, Francis' brother 19, is with them.

FindAGrave 62500480 says William Fred Simonds was born Jun 6, 1913 in Littleton, Douglas County, Colorado (????) and died April 2000 in Concord, California.

Frances N. Jensen Simonds, age 90, of Concord, CA died Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Kaiser Post Acute Care Center in San Leandro, CA in Alameda County. Funeral services will be held at Oakmont Memorial Park and Mortuary, 2099 Releiz Valley Road, Lafayette, CA, October 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.   Frances was born in Morrill, NE in Scotts Bluff county on February 4, 1918 to the late Jens & Ethel Parker Jensen of Morrill & graduated from Liberty High School. She married William F. Simonds of Mitchell, NE & they farmed in the Morrill area for many years prior to moving to Concord in 1956.

 

Mary Jerada Simonds was born Sept 4, 1891 in Colorado, died Sept 18, 1987 in Alameda County, California mother's maiden name Hicks, father Keefe.

William Barr Simonds born Jan 13, 1886 in Kansas, died in Contra Costa County January 18, 1956, mother's last name Barr.

In 1910 Oklahoma City John J. Malone, 50 born in New York, has been married 28 years to Mary, 49, also New York - he's a plumber.  So this is not likely the same one.

There was a John L. Malone born in Missouri in 1868, married Lida Allen, and they had Elsie in 1892.  So this Malone is probably not related to the John Malone marrying Anna.

In 1900 Butler County, Nebraska John L Malone born Aug 1858 in Missouri, a dry goods merchant, and Lida Nov 1867 Indiana, have Elsie M. born July 1892 in Nebraska.

On the same page is a "Herman?" Malone Aug 1832 Indiana, with Lucy Nov  1833 Indiana, and Rhoda M. Aug 1872 Nebraska.

Elsie M. Malone married James A. Bennett December 4, 1915, recorded in Logan County.

James registered in Buffalo County, Nebraska, so they didn't stay long in Logan County.

In 1920 Buffalo County, Nebraska, James is 32, Elsie 27.  They have Robert A. 3, born in Colorado, and Frances J. eight months born in Nebraska.

James, per 57186228, is buried in Kearney, Nebraska -Jan 3, 1888-Nov 15, 1968. So is Elsie Mildred Bennett - July 12, 1892 -Dec 23, 1948.

Robert Allen Bennett, born July 20, 1916, died April 2, 2005, and is buried in Helvetia, Oregon, per 28566628

James H. Snodgrass of south Logan County

Florence "Symonds"  married James S. Snodgrass June 7, 1914, in Denver, recorded in Logan County.  A.F. Rgatz, minister of Denver performed the ceremony.

James H. Snodgrass timber-claimed a quarter in 25, 7N 51W in 1894, and proved up on a quarter in 25 in 1895.

James Snodgrass of Sterling was the secretary of School District #25, Logan County in 1918.

Not too far away, Wilson L. Snodgrass cash-claimed a quarter in 10, 6N 51W in 1891 (That's Washington County)



In 1880 Marshall County, Illinois, Wilson Snodgrass is 14 "homeless", a farm laborer for the AS. L. Thierry family. Next houshoeld is Fred and Mary Thierry, and Robert Snodgrass, 17 also "homeless" is a farm laborer for them.
Wilson Lawson Snodgrass, age 26, and Miss Grace Albertha, 15, married in Uinta County, Wyoming on September 1, 1895 - both of For Bridger, Wyoming.

"Jim K." Snodgrass is in Logan County in 1910, single, farming.

In 1920 Logan County, James H. Snodgrass is 62, born in Pennsylvania, and Florence H. Snodgrass is 44, MICHIGAN.

They're in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1930, and again she said she was born in Michigan.

In 1939 Twin Falls, Idaho, "Mrs. Florence Snodgrass, widow of the late James M. Snodgrass, Twin Falls resident who died here Aug 4, receives all his $4,000 estate except for 'nominal bequests' to a brother sister and niece, all of Twin Falls."

Florence is widowed in 1940 Twin Falls, still saying she was born in Michigan.

Florence Symon Snodgrass, born Oct 8, 1875, died in Twin Falls Dec 31, 1948 - so she's probably not the one in Phillips County.
