| Thomas Wilson was born in northeastern Ireland and came to Canada as
a young man. After marrying Jane Dunbar, they settled on a farm near Stratford and lived there for about 20 years. Early in 1856 her folks, the Dunbars, had moved to Otoe County, Nebraska, several miles west of Nebraska City. About 6 months later Thomas and Jane and their family moved--arriving in November of 1856. His newly constructed home became a stop for the overland team freighting and stage coaches. Latera post office was established there and it was known as Wilson. Later the village of Dumbar was founded in that vicinity. They started a dairy and their butter was shipped to Denver on the freighters. Jane Dunbar Wilson lived to be 93 years old and had continued the farming/dairy business for 40 years after her husband died. |

Robert W. W. Jones, Representative from the Sixth District, Otoe county, is
one of the Republican members. He was born in London, England, July 16, 1849,
and in the spring of 1868 located in Nebraska. He received a thorough education
in his native country, and for some time taught school in Nebraska, alternating
with farming. For the past twenty-two years he has been engaged in the
mercantile business at Dunbar, Otoe county, in which he has been fairly
successful. He was a Democrat for some years, leaving that party on account of
the silver issue, and has since been a Republican, and while an active worker
for his party's good, he has never before held office. Representative Jones was
married in 1876 to Miss Margaret Wilson, and has an interesting family of four
sons and one daughter. Two of his children are graduates from the University of
Nebraska, academic department, a third is a graduate from both the academic and
law courses oh the same institution and the fourth is still a student in the
University.

Mrs. R. W. Jones Dies in Seattle Wash-Former resident of Dunbar, Nebraska was
wife of a local merchant, dies at the home of her son Edwin Jones of Seattle,
Washing, Friday April 12, 1939 a message to relatives states. She will ill
nearly four years from the effects of several strokes. Mrs. Jones was born at St
Marys, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Thomas and Jane Wilson. Mr. Jones who
died in Seattle eight years ago was for many years a Dunbar merchant. She came
here in 1856 and the family moved to Seattle 32 years ago. She is survived by
her son Edwin and a daughter Mrs. Walter Mayers, Seattle. Two sons, Walter and
Beach Jones, died since the family moved to Seattle, Washington. Relatives in
these parts are William Montgomery, Nebraska City; Carl Wilson; H S Westbrook,
nieces and nephews. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church during
her residence there. Funeral services were held Monday at 4PM in Seattle and
burial was there."
