1903 "Mining Reporter"  Mr. Elmer E. Briggs, superintendent of the Mascot mine, Turret, Colorado, has just returned from a business trip to Chicago.  That was in Chaffee County.

In 1910 Chaffee County Elmer E. 45 and Lois A. 40 , both Illinois, have Charlie E. 10, born in Colorado.

Elmer E. Briggs was in Chaffee County Probate Court in 1913.

Osage County, Kansas:  Mary A. Hulsopple, daughter of Leonard and Lavinus Hulsopple was born in Pennsylvania, January 9th, passed away February 23, 1923, aged 81 years 1 month and 22 days. She was married August 19, 1862, at Pekin, Ill., to James G. Briggs who died September 20, 1891. To them were born three children, Elmer E. Briggs of Burlingame, William e. Briggs of Scranton, and Lida May, who died July 16, 1908. In her early life Mrs. Briggs united with the Methodist church. She is survived by her two sons, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; also three half brothers, Benjamin Burkhart of Colorado, William Burkhart of Topeka and Joseph Burkhart of Scranton. With her husband she came to Kansas in 1865, first settling near Lawrence and afterward moving to the homestead south of Scranton where the youngest son, William still resides. Mrs. Briggs was a real pioneer of the state and will long be remembered as a faithful, patient and sympathetic mother, neighbor and friend. Peaceful be her sleep. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Ahrens, where held at the Elmer E. Briggs home on Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock after which the body was laid to rest beside that of her husband in the Highland Cemetery. 3-8-1923

assume her maiden name of Lydia M. Bates."  "Lida M Gildner brought a divorce suit against Ernest A. Gildner. Cruelty "

In 1900 Osage County, Kansas W.E. Briggs born Aug 1866 and his mother Mary Jan 1842, and sister Lida Briggs June 1869 divorced.  With them are cousin James Hulsopple Feb 1875 and his wife Harriet Oct 1882.

July 23, 1908 Osage City Free Press "The sad news was received here Fri day of the death of Mrs. Lida Briggs Rees at her home in Colorado."

Martha Louise Alsup of Santa Paula, passed away December 31, 2009 after a brief illness. Martha was born in Sterling, Colorado, January 12, 1922 to the union of Walter G. Barker and Ella (Briggs) Barker. She was 87 years young.
