William and Augusta (Sall) Albershardt

In 1900 Logan County, William born 1861 in Ohio, married six years to Agustine Aug 1874 Sweden.  They have Pearl Sep 1894, Mabel Dec 1894, Emma Aug 1897 - these three in Wyoming, and Minnie April 1899 Colorado.

William proved up  a quarter in 11, 8N 48W in 1909.

Andrew Sall cash-claimed a quarter in 29, 7N 47W in 1891.

He proved up  a quarter in 8, 6N 47W in 1898.

He timber-claimed a quarter in 4, 8N 48W in 1899.

In 1900 Logan County, Andrew Sall born Oct 1848 has been married 35 years to Chrisiana, June 1840, both in Sweden.  Anna May 1881 in Sweden is with them, of six living.

Anna Sall married Roscoe Baldwin Jun 18, 1900, recorded in Logan County.

Edna Christina Sall - 1840-1914 is buried in the Haxtun Cemetery.

W.H. ALBERSHARDT LAID TO REST IN HAXTUN CEMETERY
William Henry Albershardt, another Haxtun pioneer, was laid to rest Wednesday afternoon, January 7, following services held at the Radford Funeral Home at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. Paul K. Corley, pastor of the Methodist church, had charge of the service and music was furnished by Mrs. Harold Gall and Miss Betty Sullivan with Mrs. R.L. Scott at the piano.

The pallbearers were: Messrs. Knowles Anderson, Charles J. Johnson, Roy Lindgren, James Baldwin, Dr. J.W. Kinzie and V.M. Jones. Interment in Haxtun cemetery.

Mr. Albershardt had been failing in health for some time but his death followed a short illness of pneumonia in a hospital at Pueblo. His wife preceded him in death about four months ago on October 7, 1947.

The following obituary was read at the services:

William Henry Albershardt was born March 3, 1869 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was one of five children of William and Sophia Albershardt and departed this life on Saturday, January 3, 1948 at a hospital in Pueblo at the age of 78 years, 10 months.

(In 1885 Buffalo County, Nebraska, Louis Albershardt is 40 a cigar maker, with Sophia 39.  They have William 16, Henrietta 13, and Lena 11)

He came to Holyoke, Colorado in 1888 where he operated a cigar store. (He was assessed $10 in 1893 by the Internal Revenue Service for " and 21 cents excess on special tax stamps arriving from fractions".) He was united in marriage on January 20, 1894 in Holyoke to Augusta Lee Sall. (the record says January 24, 1894 to "Gustie Sall") .To this union were born eight children, six daughters and two sons.

His wife and one daughter, Pearl, preceded him in death.

Mr. Albershardt spent most of his life in the Haxtun community, homesteading northwest of town. Later he with his family moved to Haxtun where he established a home entering the carpenter and cabinet business until he retired in the year of 1938.

He leaves to mourn his passing: five daughters, Mabel Deibert of Denver, Colorado, Emma Bell of Van Buren, Arkansas, Minnie Deibert of Hoxie, Kansas, Dollie Hodge of Olympia, Washington, Dorothy Martin of Englewood, Colorado, and two sons, William of Bellevue, Colorado and Roy of Englewood, Colorado, two sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Miller of Santa Anna, California and Lena Rhodes of Baird, Nebraska, 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. ALBERSHARDT FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, October 10, in the Methodist church for Mrs. Augusta Albershardt, 73 years, a resident of Haxtun for 61 years.

Rev. Paul K. Corley, pastor of the church, had charge of the service and music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gall with Mrs. Ralph Scott at the piano.

The pallbearers were Messrs. B.J. Anderson, Roy Lindgren, V.M. Jones, August Bjorklun, Charles Johnson and Ebbie Johnson.

Interment was in the Haxtun cemetery.

Mrs. Albershardt had not been well for some time and had entered the hospital in Denver for care and treatment recently. Her condition grew worse with time and she passed away Tuesday evening, October 7, in St. Josephs Hospital.

She was a gracious lady, a kind neighbor and friend, and a devoted mother. Her family and home were her first concern. She was a member of the Methodist church and one of its most active workers. She will be greatly missed not only by her family but by her wide circle of friends.

The obituary reads as follows:

Mrs. Augusta Alee Albershardt was born August 11, 1847* in Helgoland Parish, Smoland, Sweden. Daughter of Andrew and Christina Sall and departed this life on Tuesday, October 7, 1947 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 21 days. In 1879 she came to the United State with her parents and settled in the Haxtun community in 1886.

She was united in marriage on January 20, 1894 in Holyoke, Colorado to William Albershardt. To this union were born eight children; six daughters and two sons. One daughter, Pearl, preceded her in death.

As a child she was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church, but later transferred her membership to the Methodist church, remaining in this faith until her death. She was also an active member of The Helping Hand club.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, William Henry Albershardt, five daughters; Mrs. Mable Deibert of Denver, Mrs. Emma Bell of Van Buren, Arkansas, Mrs. Minnie Deibert of Hoxie, Kansas, Mrs. Ivan Hodge of Olympia, Washington, Mrs. Dorothy Martin of Englewood, and two sons Roy and William of Bellevue, Colorado. One sister, Mrs. Annie Baldwin of Lacon, Illinois; one brother, John Sall of Compton, California; sixteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
