CHARLES' FAMILY

June 14, 1928 Schuyler, Nebraska " Elizabeth Eason, daughter of Richard and Lucy Eason, was born January 19, 1850, at Northhampton, England, and there resided with her parents until she was 9 years old. The family came to America in 1859 and settled at Elyria, Ohio. She was married to Franklin Fowler November 12, 1868, and from Elyria, O., moved to Sterling, I11., and from thence to North Bend Neb., and then to Schuyler, Neb., for their permanent home. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Florence, and a son, Charles. The father died in 1877 and Florence also died, leaving a baby boy, now Burr Van Housen, whom the grandmother loved and raised as her own, and it was at his home in Hemet, Calif., that she spent the past winter. On April 23, 1879, she was married to Clifford Van Housen at North Bend, Neb., and the union was blessed with two children. Alfred Van Housen of Syracuse, Neb. and Mrs. Lottie Donovan of Central City; who together with one sister, Sarah Rector, of Alberta, Canada; and two brothers, Frank Eason of Elyria, O., and Fred Eason of North Bend, survive their sister. Mrs. Van Housen spent the time lately with her children and it was while enroute from a visit with her grandson at Hemet, Calif., that she was stricken with paralysis. Two days later she peacefully passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lottie Donovan. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Schuyler, Neb. There are also three grandchildren and six great grandchildren who survive their grandmother. The funeral services were held at the late home Saturday afternoon at 2 oclock. Mrs. J. W. Hutchison was soloist and Mrs. Turrentine accompanist. The Rev. Ray S. True conducted the service at the home and at the grave in the Central City cemetery, where interment was made."

Mr. Charles F. Yan Hoosen of Newcastle, Wyoming, married Elsie Young on 26 Oct 1898.

In 1910 Logan County, on a farm, Charles Van Hoosen is a railroad worker, 35, born in Nebraska, Elsie Van Hoosen 32 Wife, Eugene Van Hoosen 11 Son, and Gladis Van Hoosen 6 Daughter.

December 19, 1912 "Engineer Van Hoosen, employed on the Burllngton and a resident of Sterling, was fatally injured at 2 o'clock this morning. While he was oiling his engine it suddenly started, and before he could recover from his surprise and regain his equilibrium the drive shaft pin tore through his body. The accident happened in Brush, Colorado. He was discovered by Fireman Jim Arnold immediatelyr thereafter, who picked him up and carried him three blocks to the Brush depot. His wife was immediately informed of his condition and she left at once ftr that town, arriving a short time before he died.
Mr. Van Hoosen did not take his injury serioualy at first. Joking about his condition to Arnold while he was being carried to the depot. He was ever a lighthearted, good natured man and was exceptionally popular with "the boys" up and down the line. Local railroad men consider his passing a loss, because of his standing and genuine manhood. His immnediate family consists of a wife and two small children. Funeral arrangements are not completed as yet."

December 20 "Charles Van Hoosen, an engineer on the Burlington road, was fatally hurt in the Brush yards, Monday evening, at 8:30. While leaning over the driving rods, oiling his engine, the machinery made a half turn, pinning and crushing him into a sitting position. An oil cup was forced into his stomach, injuring him internally. He was taken to the Brush Hospital where he died at 8:45 Tuesday morning. Mr. Van Hoosen was 36 years of age and left a widow and children at Sterling, where his body was shipped Tuesday evening."

May 31, 1917 Sterling " Mrs. Elsie Van Hoosen received a message Saturday calling her to Central City, Neb., on account of the death of her father-in-law, Henry Van Hoosen. The funeral was held Sunday."

In 1940 Los Angeles County, Fred C. Burton is 54, Elsie M. Burton 62 Wife, and Emily L. Burch 85 Mother-in-law.

Fred is widowed in 1950 Los Angeles.

Gladys Ivonne Glasgow, born 6 Apr 1904 in Nebraska, died 29 May 1997 in Los Angeles County, Mother's Maiden Name Young, Father's Surname Vanhousen.
