the May 11 double ring ceremony. The bride is a graduate of La Junta high school
and attended La Junta junior college. She is also a graduate of the nursing school at
Children's hospital in Denver, and is now employed nurse at the hospital at Nome.
The bridegroom is a radio technician with the CAA in Nome. He
attended high school in Whitefish prior to his enlistment in the navy.
He was discharged in November, 1945, and went to Alaska last July.
The couple will live in Nome. "

Whitefish resident Ethel (Baughman) Jones. Mrs. Jones, 86, died Dec. 23 in Auburn, Wash. She was born
June 2, 1901, in Brownstown, I11. While in Whitefish, Mrs. Jones was a charter member of the
First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Jesse Jones, Juneau, Alaska, and Alva Jones, Salem, Ore.;
three daughters, Billie Orphey, Whitefish, Clancy Stidham and Diann Wiklund,
both of Auburn; a sister, Florence Gerish, Saint Helena, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren."

(May 1969 La Junta "Arthur Mast, 1202 1/2 Grace Ave., died in a La
Junta hospital Monday evening, May 12. Mr. Mast incurred the wound the evening of May 6.
He reported to police that he had parked his car on Second St., near Taylor Lumber Co.,
and as he was walking down Second St., just east of Cap's Bar, a young Spanish boy
passed him and hit him in the stomach. Mast didn't realize at the time the extent of
his injury, but stated his stomach began to hurt. He went into Cap's Bar and
Pete Caponera, owner of the bar, took him to the hospital when it was discovered
he was bleeding from a half inch laceration in his abdomen.
The wound was apparently made by a knife or sharp instrument.")
