Robert was born Aug. 5, 1927, to Douglas Ira and Loretta Delia (Thorp) German in Los Angeles, where he was raised and educated. He enlisted in the Army Air Force on Sept. 1, 1945, at Fort McCarthur, Long Beach, and served with the occupation forces in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged at Camp Beal, on Sept. 1, 1947.
Robert then worked in the aircraft industry in California for 10 years, before coming to Montana in 1957, where he spent the rest of his life. He worked on several ranches and farms, including the Steve Holman ranch at Dodson, the Pete Woronik farm at Havre, and for Terry and July Salo at Chinook.
He retired from the Salo Ranch in 1992 and moved to Havre. Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, carpentry work and especially helping out anyone who needed a hand. He will long be remembered for the tomato plants he started for everyone he knew, the beautiful bird houses he built, and gave away, and the vegetables he supplied all his friends out of his gardens."

Don was raised in California with 11 brothers and sisters. He married his wife Shirley after serving in the US Navy. In 1963, he was transferred to the newly built Chevron Refinery in Pascagoula, MS, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1990.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley German, grandsons, Calvin and Richard Fore Jr., and great-grandson, Jeremy Alexander.
Don is survived by his daughters, Brenda German Wiley, Dawn German (Gene) Stringfellow, and Kristi German Cornelius, sister-in-law, Karen German, grandchildren, Kelly (Joel) Alexander, David Stringfellow, Kathleen (Chris) Cooley, Christopher (Amanda) Wiley, Kimberlee Wiley, Shirley Cornelius, and Hunter Cornelius; great-grandchildren, Jared Stringfellow, Brenna Alexander, Bryleigh Alexander, and Zachary Cooley; as well as, loving nieces and nephews.
