August 29, 1912 Luray, Kansas "Henry A. Choate departed this life at
12:30 a m. Sunday morning at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. J. H. Averill, one mile east of this city,
at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 6 days.
He had been in poor health for several months,
owing to the gradual breaking up of the well-springs
of life, demise being due to afflictions incident to
old age.
Henry A. Choate was a native of New York State,
born Jan. 19, 1833. He was married in July 1863,
to Frances Rowen, at Central City, Colorado.
To this union three children were born, viz.:
Mortimer E., of Bingham, Utah,
Mrs. Minnie Averill of Luray, Kansas,
and Mrs. Edna Guhse, of Boulder, Colorado.
All of the children are living, but the wife and
mother passed on to the other shore several years ago.
Deceased is also survived by two brothers and one
sister in New York state. Deceased was a member of the
M. E. church since 19 years of age, and lived a
consistent Christian life. For the past two years
or thereabout he made his home with his daughter,
Mrs. Averill. Poor health prevented his going about
very much, but he impressed those who met him as being
a good man of estimable character.
His body was shipped, Monday evening, to his
old home at Idaho Springs, Colorado, where funeral services and interment occurred.

Sterling, Logan County, Colorado.
Idaho Springs noted "We are informed that the marriage of Mort Choate and Miss Nellie Davies,
was solemnized at Sterling, Logan Co., on Monday June 17th."

He reports his family enjoying good health and says that prospects for good crops are excellent."

September 3, 1912 "Henry A. Choate, a cousin of Joseph
Choate, former United States ambassador to England,
who from 1861 to 1897 was a resident of Colorado,
was buried yesterday at his old home at Idaho Springs.
He died several days ago at the home of a daughter,
Mrs. J. H. Averill of Duroy, Kansas. Choate for many years
lived at Idaho Springs and later at Boulder,
where his wife died. He is survived by three children,
Mrs. Averill, Mrs. Charles Gahse of Boulder, and Mortimer
E. Choate of Bingham Canon, Utah."

and daughter Blanche left today for their home in
Salt Lake after spending two months with her sister,
Mrs. M. E. Choate. The latter gave a very lovely whist
party in her honor Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Guenhalph is a delightful woman and made many friends
while here. She is a professional nurse and will resume
practice of her profession."
