" Ruben Brafford, 82, of Jefferson, formerly of Scranton, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the Greene County Medical Center after a long illness. Rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Dahn-Woodhouse Funeral Home, here, with burial in the Scranton Cemetery. The Rev. Dan King will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Mr. Brafford was a 50-year member and former chief of the Scranton Fire Department, having joined in 1924. Most of his life was spent at Scranton, and for the last seven years he had lived at Jefferson.
He was born March 31,1892, in Central City, a son of Milton and Francis Chappel Brafford. His marriage to Mertie Slocum took place July 6, 1912. She died in 1963.
Survivors include a son, Duard of Jefferson; one grandson and one great-grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Robinson of Des Moines, and Mrs. Madge Bullington of Castor, Alberta, Canada; and three brothers, Ed Brafford of Des Moines, Murl Brafford of Carroll, and Everett Brafford of Grimes.
Besides his wife, Mr. Brafford was preceded in death by three infant children and two brothers."

" Mrs. Brafford was the former Elsie May Tillier, daughter of Charles and Millie Hammer Tillier. She was born Feb. 26, 1895, at Kellerton and spent the greater part of her life at Scranton. She attended rural schools near Scranton and on Jan. 3, 1912, married Mr. Brafford in the Methodist parsonage at Jefferson.
The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1962. Mrs. Brafford was a member of the Methodist Church at Scranton.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Emery (Eva) Kennett of Glidden; two grandchildren, Mrs. Ralph L. Baunvhover of Cedar Falls and Dr. Robert Kennett, Bloomington, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ed Brafford, Des Moines, and Mrs. Ethel Edwards, McHenry, a brother, Alfred Tillier, Des Moines; three half-brothers, Oscar Dickey, Anselmo, Ralph and Albert Dickey, Hemingford, and a half-sister, Mrs. Pauline Dickey Hake, Bremerton, Wash. One half- brother preceded her in death"

"Eva LaVerne Brafford Kennett, 94, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Jefferson, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Western Home Communities Martin Center.
She was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Greene County, near Scranton, daughter of Elmer and Elsa Tillier Brafford. She married Emery F. Kennett on Jan. 18, 1934. He died July 5, 1983.
Mrs. Kennett graduated from Scranton High School in 1932. She and her husband farmed near Scranton and later near Lidderdale, before retiring to Jefferson.
Survived by: a daughter, Marlene (Ralph) Baumhover of Cedar Falls; a son, Dr. Robert (Dorothy) Kennett of Bloomington, Ill.; five grandchildren, Debbie (Keith) Francis, Craig (Nancy) Baumhover, Steve (Kendra) Kennett, Jon (Anne) Kennett and Greg (Christie) Kennett; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. "

" Norman Brafford, 81, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where the family will receive friends half hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dillavou Cemetery in rural Ralston, Iowa.
Norman was born in Ralston and lived in Des Moines most of his life. He worked at Bridgestone Firestone for 26 years, retiring in 1991.
Norman is survived by his sisters, Jean Kastler of Cupertino, California and Carol Ann Smith of Johnston and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett J. and Ethel M. (Black) Brafford and his siblings, Wayne Brafford and Charlene White."
