Mrs. Samuel Service."
December 1907 "Mr. and Mrs. James Boyd and Mr.
Samuel Service arrived from Estes Park last Saturday in Mr.
Boyd's automobile, a fine Stanley steam machine.
Mrs. David Boyd accompanied them from Hillrose.
They are here visiting relatives and friends,
and Mr. Boyd and Mr. Service are also looking after their
real estate."
September 1911 "James H. Boyd left this morning for
his home at Murtaugh, Idaho, after a several days
visit with his sister, Mrs. G. E. McConley and family."
July 1913 Estes Park " James H. Boyd, brother of Mrs. Samuel Service,
who has turned to Estes Park. He is accompanied by Mrs. Boyd,
and will remain for at least the balance of the summer."
September 1918 "James Boyd and Samuel Service,
who had spent several days here the past week looking after
their land interests in Logan county, returned Sunday to their
home at Estes Park. While here Mr. Service disposed of his
land near Iliff. W. R. Koenig was the purchaser."
August 1918 " Mrs. Mary A. Boyd returned Thursday night
from an extended visit with her children, Mrs. Samuel Service
and James Boyd at Estes Park. She was accompanied by her
daughter, Mrs. F M. Weinheimer of Hermiston, Oregon,
who will visit for several days here with her sister,
Mrs. George K. McConley. During her visit at Estes Park,
Mrs. Boyd had the pleasure of having all her children
together, the family reunion being held at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Samuel Service. Her seven children were all
present at this family gathering.
They are David Boyd of Ouray, William Boyd of Placerville,
James Boyd of Estes Park,
Mrs. Jennie Magarrell of Omaha, Nebraska,
Mrs. George E. McConley of Sterling,
Mrs. Samuel Service of Estes Park, and
Mrs. F. M. Weinheimer of Hermiston, Oregon."
August 1927 Estes Park " Mrs. E. J. Magarrell,
Omaha, Neb., arrived in Estes Park on Monday, August 1,
to visit her sister, Mrs. Service, and her brother."
November 1929 Estes Park "James Boyd,
in writing from Long Beach says. 'We landed here O. K. a
week ago Thursday, after having a good trip out.
We are having real warm weather here, almost too warm.
There is lots of building going on here. The boys are doing
fine in their school and like it fine."

January 24, 1958 "James H. Boyd, pioneer resident of Estes Park,
died in a Longmont hospital Friday afternoon after a short illness.
Mr. Boyd, who was 81, was born in Marne, Iowa, September 13, 1876.
He came to Colorado 75 years ago and spent his early life in Sterling.
In 1902 he came to Estes Park, and established himself as a blacksmith
and mechanic in a shop which was located on the site of the present Mall
hospital. Later he acquired property on what is now East Riverside Parkway,
and on Elkhorn Avenue, and in 1926 built the Boyd building,
which now houses the businesses from the McConnell Pharmacy to the Estes
Park Hardware. For some years thereafter he continued his blacksmithing
business in the building where the Band Box Cleaners is now located,
and later on devoted his entire time to rentals in his Elkhorn Avenue
building and the two buildings on East Riverside, which he still owned at
the time of his death.
In 1950 Mr. and Mrs. Boyd moved to Longmont to make their home, tho
Mr. Boyd continued to look after his real estate interests in Estes.
He was a member of the Estes Park Community Church of the Rockies,
and the Masonic Bodge in Loveland.
Mr. and Mrs. Boyd were married May 6, 1906, and had their fiftieth
wedding anniversary celebration in Longmont last year. Surviving are:
his wife, Mrs. Fannie B. Boyd; two sons, James K. Boyd of Longmont
and Edward Boyd of Los Angeles; one grandchild, Barbara,
daughter of Edward Boyd; and several nephews and nieces,
among whom are the children of another Estes Park pioneer,
Samuel Service: Frank, Byran and Ted Service, and Mrs. Lee Tallant,
Mrs. Ted Scott, Mrs. Marshall Stith of Poway, Calif.,
and Mrs. E. L. Dutcher of Denver.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Lewellen Funeral Home in
Longmont, and interment was in Mountain View Cemetery there."
