Cecil C. Augenstein died in Italy January 30, 1945 and is buried at the Florence American Cemetery.

IDA JORDAN RITES HERE FRIDAY Mrs. Ida Almira Augenstein Jordan, 81, a resident of the Haxtun community for the past 45 years, passed away at the local hospital Tuesday afternoon, following a few hours illness. Mrs. Jordan became ill at the Odd Fellows hall Tuesday morning, where she had gone to vote and was admitted to the hospital about 9:30. Her death occurred at 3:20 in the afternoon. Funeral services will be held from the Berean Fundamental Church Friday afternoon at 2:00. Haxtun Harvest, Haxtun, Colorado, November 16, 1960 MRS. IDA JORDAN LAID TO REST FRIDAY The funeral of Mrs. Ida Augenstein Jordan, who passed away on election day last week after a few hours illness, was held Friday afternoon from the Berean Fundamental church, with Rev. Eldon Sandin officiating. Pallbearers were Harley Olson, B.J. Anderson, Louis Koch, Sam Langdon, Wilber Harms and Gene Swisher. Ushers were Wilbur Atkins and Lloyd Ensminger and Mr. and Mrs. Merl Koch, accompanied by Mrs. Wilbur Atkins at the piano, sang "There Will Be No Dark Valley," "When We All Get to Heaven" and "Good Night and Good Morning." Concluding service and burial was at the Haxtun cemetery. Ida Almira Haga was born in Caldwell, Ohio, the fourth of six children of John M. Haga and Mary C. Schau on May 25, 1879. Here she resided for 21 years. She was married to John Augenstein on November 28, 1897 at Lowell, Ohio, and three years later moved to Nashua, Iowa where their union was blessed with seven children. With the exception of one son who died in infancy on June 1, 1908, all grew to manhood and womanhood. The youngest son, Cecil, gave his life in the service of his country while serving in Italy during the second World War. John Augenstein passed from this life on August 28, 1913. On March 19, 1914, she married George B. Jordan and together they moved to Colorado. The next year this union was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Dorothy. Mrs. Jordan was received into the member ship of a little Methodist country church, called Bells church, near Caldwell, Ohio. In 1941 she was baptized and received into the membership of a Baptist church in Arvada, Colorado where she remained a member until being received by confession of faith as a charter member of the Berean church in May of 1954. She served her Lord faithfully and was in attendance at every service her health would permit. This pastor and church are grateful for the many prayers she offered on our behalf. She passed from this life after a few hours serious illness November 8, 1960 at the age of 81 years, five months and 17 days. Beside the son killed in the war, she was preceded in death by another son, Vernon, and her brother and four sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters: Ethella Killgore of Haxtun; Mrs. Burnette Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado, three sons, Ernest of Sidney, Nebraska, Floyd of Pierre, South Dakota and Ellis of Haxtun; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, beside many friends and other relatives. | Haxtun-Fleming Herald, Haxtun, Colorado, March 9, 2005 Katherine Augenstein-Salyards died Friday, February 7, 2005 in Colorado Springs. She was born November 7, 1913 in Gallatin, Tennessee to Dennis and Celia (Horn) Frye. Katherine attended and graduated from Daily High School, and later married Ellis Augenstein. The couple had one son, Larry Augenstein. The family was living in the Haxtun area when Ellis passed away in 1984. Katherine later married Stanley Salyards. She was a custodian at several churches in Haxtun and also for the Haxtun Post Office. She enjoyed gardening and crafts. Katherine is survived by her son and wife Jeanette, Colorado Springs, and granddaughter, Cherlyn Foster. A private inurnment was held March 5, at the Haxtun Cemetery with memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Brethren Church with Pastor Roy Pfaltzgraff officiating. |
