In 1880 Washington County, Ohio, Geo. B. is 5, one of six kids of Jacob T. and Nancy Jordan.

He might be the George Jordan in 1900 Boone County Illinois, born September 1874 in Ohio, a farm laborer for the William Burton family.

In Waverly, Bremer County, Iowa, February 23, 1902, George B. Jordan, 28, born in Noble County, Ohio to Jacob T. Jordan (1849 - 1917) and Nancy Haga, (1848 - 1908)  married Mae F. Larue 16, born in Floyd County, Iowa to John O. Larue and Ann Keister.

May F. "Larne" "Jordon" married Carl E. Cutshaw, son of Benjamin F. Cutshaw and Clara Williams, in Bremer County,  Iowa December 14, 1904.  If Carl is the one in 1910 Seattle, driving a milk wagon, they didn't stay together long.

Mae F. Larue married W.J. Lockner Nov 8, 1915 in Fort Dodge, Webster County, Iowa.

In 1918 Mae F. Lockner is in Fort Dodge Iowa, married to William J. Lockner, and then in 1930 Waterloo, Iowa she's divorced, living with brother John A. Larue, also divorced,  and his two sons.

In 1910 Rockland precinct Geo. B. is living alone, 35, born in Ohio, farming.

George cash-claimed a quarter in 13, 7N 48W in 1911.

In 1920 Phillips County George is 44, Ida 40, born in Ohio.  Leland 16, Vernon 14, Ellis 10, and Cecil 7 were born in Iowa, Dorothy 2 born in Colorado.

In 1930 Jefferson County, Colorado, farming, George and Ida A. have Dorothy 12, and stepsons Vernon Augenstein 24, Iowa and Cecil C. 17 Iowa.  Both are laborers.

Cecil married Wanita N. Harrell Dec 6, 1933, recorded in Denver.

He married Mazie Naomi Ingersoll June 14, 1936. 

Mazie's mother had died at age 72 in 1935 Bremer County.  In 1895 Bremer County Arthur 34, born in Bremer County, and Jane 31, born in Jefferson County, Iowa and "Marry", 1, born in Dakota, were living with W.B. Ingersoll, 75, widowed.

Cecil C. Augenstein died in Italy January 30, 1945 and is buried at the Florence American Cemetery.

At the time he joined up, he and my Grandmother were living somewhere near Denver, I think. He worked for Coors brewing company in Golden. Adolf Coors, a successful German businessman himself, helped other German Americans by giving them good jobs and benefits at his brewery and manufacturing facility.

In 1940 Bremer County Iowa, George B. Jordan is 65, farming, married to Mazie M. 46, South Dakota.  Father-in-law Arthur R. Ingersoll, 78, widowed, born in Iowa, is with them.  George was in Logan County Colorado in 1935, but Mazie was in Bremer County in 1935.

The January 15, 1947 issue of the Tripoli Leader, Bremer County, reported the death of Arthur R. Ingersoll of Plainfield.

George died   1965 in Nashua, Iowa, and Mazie 1967 in Plainfield, Iowa.

MRS. IDA JORDAN RITES HERE FRIDAY

Mrs. Ida Almira Augenstein Jordan, 81, a resident of the Haxtun community for the past 45 years, passed away at the local hospital Tuesday afternoon, following a few hours illness.

Mrs. Jordan became ill at the Odd Fellows hall Tuesday morning, where she had gone to vote and was admitted to the hospital about 9:30. Her death occurred at 3:20 in the afternoon.

Funeral services will be held from the Berean Fundamental Church Friday afternoon at 2:00.

MRS. IDA JORDAN LAID TO REST FRIDAY

The funeral of Mrs. Ida Augenstein Jordan, who passed away on election day last week after a few hours illness, was held Friday afternoon from the Berean Fundamental church, with Rev. Eldon Sandin officiating.

Pallbearers were Harley Olson, B.J. Anderson, Louis Koch, Sam Langdon, Wilber Harms and Gene Swisher. Ushers were Wilbur Atkins and Lloyd Ensminger and Mr. and Mrs. Merl Koch, accompanied by Mrs. Wilbur Atkins at the piano, sang "There Will Be No Dark Valley," "When We All Get to Heaven" and "Good Night and Good Morning."

Concluding service and burial was at the Haxtun cemetery.

Ida Almira Haga was born in Caldwell, Ohio, the fourth of six children of John M. Haga and Mary C. Schau on May 25, 1879. Here she resided for 21 years.

She was married to John Augenstein on November 28, 1897 at Lowell, Ohio, and three years later moved to Nashua, Iowa where their union was blessed with seven children. With the exception of one son who died in infancy on June 1, 1908, all grew to manhood and womanhood. The youngest son, Cecil, gave his life in the service of his country while serving in Italy during the second World War. John Augenstein passed from this life on August 28, 1913. On March 19, 1914, she married George B. Jordan and together they moved to Colorado. The next year this union was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Dorothy.

Mrs. Jordan was received into the member ship of a little Methodist country church, called Bells church, near Caldwell, Ohio. In 1941 she was baptized and received into the membership of a Baptist church in Arvada, Colorado where she remained a member until being received by confession of faith as a charter member of the Berean church in May of 1954. She served her Lord faithfully and was in attendance at every service her health would permit. This pastor and church are grateful for the many prayers she offered on our behalf.

She passed from this life after a few hours serious illness November 8, 1960 at the age of 81 years, five months and 17 days.

Beside the son killed in the war, she was preceded in death by another son, Vernon, and her brother and four sisters.

She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters: Ethella Killgore of Haxtun; Mrs. Burnette Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado, three sons, Ernest of Sidney, Nebraska, Floyd of Pierre, South Dakota and Ellis of Haxtun; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, beside many friends and other relatives.

Out-of-town relatives who came to attend the funeral of Mrs. Ida Jordan were Mrs. Raymond Langley, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Augenstein, Sidney, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Hank Numan and Mr. and Mrs. George Dickerson of Lodgepole, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hutchison Jr, of Curtis Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Clifford Augenstein of Thornton, Mr. and Mrs. Burnette Johnson of Lakewood, Mr. and Mrs. John Richter of Bridgeport, Nebraska, Mrs. Don Meyer and children of Lafayette, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Killgore of Sunol, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jordan, Cheyenne, Paul Jordan and Mrs. Ethel Hobbs of Willard, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jordan of Sterling, Mrs. Roy Allen and Mrs. Clyde Nelson of Loveland.

Katherine Augenstein-Salyards died Friday, February 7, 2005 in Colorado Springs. She was born November 7, 1913 in Gallatin, Tennessee to Dennis and Celia (Horn) Frye.

Katherine attended and graduated from Daily High School, and later married Ellis Augenstein. The couple had one son, Larry Augenstein. The family was living in the Haxtun area when Ellis passed away in 1984.

Katherine later married Stanley Salyards.

She was a custodian at several churches in Haxtun and also for the Haxtun Post Office. She enjoyed gardening and crafts.

Katherine is survived by her son and wife Jeanette, Colorado Springs, and granddaughter, Cherlyn Foster.

A private inurnment was held March 5, at the Haxtun Cemetery with memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Brethren Church with Pastor Roy Pfaltzgraff officiating.
