1922 she married first Earl T. Howatt of Golden Hills area. To this marriage was
born four children: Marie Alice, Earline, Earl Jr., and Lillian. In 1928 while
Mrs. Howatt was in the hospital delivering Lillian, their youngest, tragedy
struck. Earl was thrown from a plow and so severely injured that he passed away
a few days later in the Hanna Hospital.
