He might be the William F. Dow marrying Mary A. Mullen March 18, 1862 in Lawrence, Massachusetts.  She was 26, born in Norridgework, Maine to James and Eunice Mullen.

William Dow of Vermont enlisted in the Vermont 2nd Light Artillery  1862, mustered out Jan 17, 1864.

Elbert's California death record says he was born Dec 19, 1863 in Vermont, mother's maiden name "Mellon" dying in Los Angeles Dec 27, 1854.

Stephen M.'s record says he was born Sep 26, 1865 in Vermont, mother's maiden name Mullen, dying Jun 10, 1955 in Los Angeles.

In 1870 Chittenden County, Vermont, William is farming with his father Lorenzo. 

One tree said William married Abigail Augusta Munger in Vermont. in 1853, but she's with parents Truman and Mary in 1870, age 22, born in Vermont.

Another tree said Mary A. Mullen Dow died Jan 26, 1874 in Burlington, Vermont, and he married Abigail in 1875.

William cash-claimed a quarter in 28 and 29, 7N 48W in 1891.

He might be the one in  Clinton County New York in 1880, a tinsmith, 42, with Abbie H. 32, Elbert 16 also a tinsmith, Stephen M. 14 a laborer, and Fred G. 6.

He's in South Dakota in 1885, and then in 1892 King County, Washington, a tinner, with A.A. 44, F.G. 18 and C. B. 6. 

So the timing fits with an 1891 homestead in Logan County, Colorado.

In 1900 King County, Washington a hardware dealer, born Jan 1838 , with Abbie A. March 1848, both Vermont - she's had no kids, but Fred G. Aug 1873 Vermont and Cora B. April 1886 South Dakota, mother born in Maine, are with them.

William Frederick Dow, born in Hinesburg, Vermont January 23, 1838,  died Jan 18, 1910 in King County, son of Lorenzo Dow and Betsey A. Kenyon.

Abbie A. Dow born March 16, 148 in Colchester, Vermont, died Oct 2, 1915 - both are buried in Auburn, Washington.
