One tree said Velma married Amos John Wolfe October 8, 1940 in Kearney, Nebraska.  Amos was in Fleming precinct in 1920, born in Missouri, living with parents John O. Wolfe 37 and Ida 33.  Siblings are Ueal 11, Ophie 9, and Cleo 6.  In 1930 Logan County all six are still together.   John Orie Wolfe 1882-1958 and Ida P. (Bennett) Wolfe 1887-1970 are buried in Fleming, as is Ueal Wilbur Wolfe 1908-1954.

December 22, 1899 Sterling "Sheriff Ayres started for Pueblo on the early train, taking poor Mrs. Boehme to the asylum, where it is hoped careful treatment may restore her sanity."

Charles R. Boehme married Emma J. Phillips June 14, 1903, recorded in Logan County.

In 1910 Logan County, Charles R. Boehme, 41 Illinois, and Emmily 32, California have been married seven years.  They have Ellenlyse 5, Alvin E. 3, and Willette H. nine months.

Emily is in Siskiyou County, California in 1880, 2, with Oliver 58 and his wife Elizabeth 28.

PIONEER OF NORTHEASTERN COLORADO LAID TO REST MONDAY

Charles R. Boehme was born in Illinois January 5, 1869. He later lived in Nebraska, and moved with his parents to Colorado in 1888, where his father homesteaded in the Cedar Valley, north of Sterling. Mr. Boehme homesteaded near Dailey in 1904, where his home had been since.   Charles proved up on a quarter in 20, 8N 48W in 1913.


On the 14th of June, 1903, he was married to Emma J. Phillips of Haxtun. Mrs. Boehme died February 11, 1914, leaving five children, all of whom are living. Mr. Boehme died after a long illness. He is survived by his aged mother and five sisters.

The deceased was a member of the Haxtun Methodist church. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon, interment being in the Haxtun cemetery.

Caroline Boehme Claimed by Death

Mrs. Caroline Boehme*, 90, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Acott, nine miles east of Haxtun, on Sunday, May 13.

Mrs. Boehme was one of the real early settlers in this section of Colorado moving with her family to this state from Nebraska about 45 years ago.

She was the mother of 13 children, seven of whom survive. They are: Louise Boehme of Los Angeles, California, Emma Kelber of Merino, Colorado, Mrs. Charles Acott of Haxtun, Mrs. Marie Townley of Rising City, Nebraska, Laura Boehme of California, and Mrs. Anna Hartman of Haxtun. There are also 21 grandchildren who survive.

Mrs. Boehme had been a patient sufferer for more than a quarter of century, having been an invalid for the past 30 years. She came to live with her daughter near Haxtun about eight years ago.

Harold W. Boehme 1909-1990 and Wilma L. 1920-2009 are buried in Olinger, Thornton, Colorado.

Larry Andrew Barkley, 64, of Fleming, died Oct. 25, 2005, in Fleming.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Tennant Funeral Home. A
memorial service is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Fleming United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Al Strauss presiding. Inurnment will follow at Fleming
Cemetery.

Mr. Barkley was born July 13, 1941, in Fleming to William L. and Nora
(Boehme) Barkley. He graduated from Fleming High School in 1959 and attended Colorado
State University.

In 1961 he married Doris Frank. He was a self-employed as a farmer and real
estate agent. He was a member of the Sterling Elks Club, Haxtun American
Legion, National Pony Express Association and Fleming Saddle Club, and served on the
Fleming Rural Fire Board and Fleming Co-op Board. He was a member of Fleming
United Methodist Church.

Mr. Barkley is survived by his wife, Doris C. Barkley; three children, Wendy
L. Schulz of Kersey, Eric William Barkley of Fleming, and Rick Allen Barkley
of Fleming; one brother, Bob Barkley of Greeley; and two grandchildren.
 

DONNA LEA BEENE

Memorial services for longtime Lewis, Colorado resident Donna Lea Beene will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Ertel Memorial Chapel.

Donna was born on March 18, 1932 in Sterling, Colo. the daughter of Thomas K. and Verna Ellen (Woods) Acott. She passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 78.

Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lakeview Harmony Club, and she was a lifetime member of the Southwestern Colorado Cowbelles. Donna spent many years working for Four States Tractor. She enjoyed tole painting, sewing and choir singing.

Surviving Donna are her children, Keith Hindmarsh and wife, Alesha of McElmo, Colo., Penny Vidakovich and husband, Leigh of Peyton, Colo., and Jodie Peters of Medford, Ore.; nine grandchildren, Bradley Apple of Grand Junction, Colo., Dalton and Logan Hindmarsh of Cortez, Heath Higgins and wife, Lori of Yellow Jacket, Allen Higgins and wife, Mandy of Lewis, Maygen Ives and husband, Luke of Yellow Jacket, Lauren Ives and husband, Paul of Cortez, Matt Black and wife, Jodie of California, and Weston Willey and wife, Mindy of Medford, Ore.; seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Darlene Gorbutt of Fleming, Colo. and Thomas R. Acott and wife, Reta of Fleming, Colo. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Joe Marion Beene; by her children, LeuAnn Hindmarsh, LeAnn Higgins, and Kent Hindmarsh; and by her sister, Mary Elizabeth Acott.
