PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given, that under and by virtue of the judgment rendered in the above entitled action,  by the above named Court, and of an execution issued on said Judgment, to me directed and delivered, I will on Monday, December 11, 1895. at the hour of 2 o'clock p. m , of said day, at the east door of the Court House, In Phillipsburg, a parcel of land.

1896 "James T. Strong Meets With Many Misfortunes Through a Family Feud. Phillipsburg, Kan.. Sept. 15. Several years ago James T. Strong was adjudged Insane, sent to an asylum and subsequently released as cured. He claimed that his condition had been brought about by ill treatment at the hands of his wife and father-in-law. After his release his wife secured a divorce from him. Meanwhile the father-in-law, John Bosanko, had succeeded in having Strong's property conveyed to him, but after much litigation Strong secured the title to it again. Yesterday District Judge Geiger awarded the 1$ acres to the divorced wife in lieu of alimony, which Strong was unable to pay on account of having been impoverished at law."  John Bosanko died June 19, 1895 and is buried in Phillipsburg.

In 1930 Yuma County John E. Strong, 44, born in Kansas, first married at age 34, is married to Catherine 40, first married at 21.  With them are Roland 18, Kansas, Mildred L. 9, Colorado, and Aillen, 6, Colorado.

They're in the 1935 county directory, living at 409 South Cedar.

In 1940 Yuma at 409 South Cedar Street , Catherine is married but no spouse, a seamstress, 50, born in Germany.  Irene K. is 16, and Roland A. Thayer is 28, a farm laborer.  Mildred is in Denver, no occupation, a companion in the Burnside family.

February 16, 1960  YUMA (AP) One man was killed and two other persons were injured Monday night in a weird collision involving two cars and a truck on Colorado Highway 59 three miles north of here. The victim was John E. Strong, 74, a retired Yuma farmer. The State Patrol said Strong's auto smashed into a truck and an auto which were parked on the shoulder of the highway. A tire on the second auto had gone flat, and its two occupants and a passerby were making repairs when the crash occurred. The truck, whose driver was Mrs. Julia Hoskins, 51, of Yuma , was parked on the wrong side of the road, the patrol said. Mrs. Hoskins escaped injury. Her son, Loren, 18, suffered a bruised leg. The passerby, Kenneth Mountain, 35, of Yuma, suffered internal injuries.

Greeley Colorado February 7, 1975 - STRONG Catherine E. Strong of Fairacres Manor. Born June 3, 1889, in Lehe, Germany, she was married to John Edward Strong on Aug. 14, 1919, at Kensington, Kan. He died Feb. 10, 1960. At the age of nine, she arrived at Kensington to make her home with her sister. Following her marriage, she and her husband homesteaded at Yuma. In 1941, they moved to Denver, where she was a professional seamstress. In 1966, she came to Greeley to be near her daughter and for the past eight years had been in the nursing home.  Mother of Mrs. Arnold (Aileen) Mekelburg of Greeley, Mrs. Joseph (Mildred) Johnson of Englewood, and Roland Thayer of Torrance, Calif.; sister of Sophia Bienhoff of Kensington, Kan., Martha Grauerholz of Byron, Neb., and Erna Schroeder of Texas. Also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services 11:00 a.m. Saturday from the Ivy Chapel, Fairmount Cemetery, Denver. Interment Fairmount Cemetery, Denver

Mildred Lorraine Johnson, 90, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at the Valley Inn in Mancos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Johnson, in April 2011.

Millie was born in Yuma, Colo., on Jan. 11, 1921, to John and Catherine (Heise) Strong. She grew up on the family farm with her younger sister, Aileen Mekelburg of Greeley, Colo., and her older brother, Roland Thayer, who preceded her in death in 1990. She graduated from Yuma High School in 1939 and then moved with her family to Denver in 1941. She married Lloyd M. Rhoads Aug. 15, 1942, at Camp Roberts in California. They had two children, Janice and Russell, and were later divorced.

After attending Barnes Business College, Millie worked as a secretary at Gates Rubber Company in the Industrial Hose Department. She married Joe Johnson, who also worked in sales in the same department. They celebrated 57 years of marriage. After retiring from Gates in 1963, Millie studied grapho-analysis and was a partner in the company, Confidential Analysts. She was president of the Colorado chapter of I.G.A.S. from 1971 to 1973. She enjoyed being a grandmother to Angela and Chris, flower gardening, traveling to visit relatives, and corresponding with her beautiful handwriting. Millie was an excellent cook and seamstress, making many of her own clothes. She and Joe moved to Mancos in 1993 and continued their hobbies of flower and vegetable gardening, feeding hummingbirds, and keeping in touch with friends and relatives.

Millie is survived by her sister, Aileen Mekelburg of Greeley; her daughter, Janice (Al) Brown of Durango; her son, Russ (Barbara) Rhoads of Denver; her grandson, Chris (Ari) Rhoads of Centennial, Colo.; her granddaughter, Angela (Mark) Grant of Glenrock, Wyo.; three great-grandchildren, Darien Rhoads, Kayla and Austin Grant; a niece, Kathy Agnew; and three nephews, Dennis, Daryl, and Larry Mekelburg.
