MARTHA

Martha Elisabeth Rauscher was born December 7, 1887, and christened at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Clay County.

"Marha" E. Rauscher married John E. Becker Feb 18, 1915, recorded in Logan County.

In 1919 John E. Becker was the president of school district # 13, with Lynel Bortels secretary, and Edward Schacterle, treasurer, all of Haxtun.

In 1920 Rockland precinct, Martha E. 33, is married to John E. Becker, 44, with Gertrude E. 16, Harold E. 12, Doras T. 11

It must be the second marriage for John - in 1910 Rockland precinct he's married to Lidia, 30, with Malita 9, Gertrude 6, Harold 3 and Doris 1.

Lydia (Rauscher) Becker - Mar 25, 1880 - Dec 13, 1910 is buried in the Leroy Cemetery, Logan County.

In 1930 Rockland precinct John E. is 55, Martha 43, with Lester L. 8, and daughter Melitta S. 29 and Robert B. Meadows 26., and grandson Raymond J. Meyer, 8.

EMMA

Emma married George Rush Hillyer January 20, 1915 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church, Clay County.

George Rush Hillyer, born August 17, 1874, registered with a Fleming address, married to Emma

In 1920 Fleming precinct he and Emma M. 33,  born in Nebraska,  have Lillian, eight months.

In 1930 Rockland precinct George and Emma have Lillian C. 11 and Wilbur S. 9.

In 1940 Sterling George and Emma have Wilbur, now 19.  - they filed on the Nonresident Schedule as not residents but living in Fleming.

Emma Magdalena (Rauscher) Hillyer 1886-1958 # 55506545 and George R. Hillyer 1875-1942 are buried in Sterling.

EDWARD

In 1910 Rockland precinct, Logan County, Edward is 26, married to Minnie 22, with Reon three months.  Next household is Martha 22, born in Nebraska, then the next household is Emma 24 Nebraska and her brother Sam, 17.

Edward registered with a Haxtun address, born January 27, 1884, nearest relative Mrs. Minnie Rauscher.

In 1920 Edward and Minnie, still in Logan County, have Reon 9, Mona 5, Dale 4, and Laeta 2.

In 1940 Haxtun, Edward is widowed, managing an elevator.  He said he was living at Sterling in 1935.

Reon is working in Nebraska in 1930, single, served in the Navy in WWII and Korea, died in 1998, and is buried in Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Bonita, California.

Ed is a laborer in a grain elevator in Sterling in 1930, saying he was married, but no spouse.  Reon is listed with him, Mona 16, Dale 14, and Glen 9, too

Mona is a nurse in 1940 Sterling, lodging with the A.P. Jaszwhsiak  family.  She said she was in Sheridan, Wyoming in 1935.

1944 Greeley, Colorado "Ed  Rauscher, brother-in-law of Mrs. W. B. Daniels, and wife from Haxtun, their daughter, :  Mona  Rauscher, nurse in the Sterling, hospital, and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dale Rauscher, whose husband was with the aerial bombardiers over Germany, but who is now a prisoner of war there, were visitors in the Daniels' home the week end. Mrs. Dale Rauscher lives at Goodland, Kansas."

Dale is a grocery clerk in Goodland, Kansas in 1940, 24, married to Clara Maxine Rouscher, 23.  They're buried in Goodland. Dale December 16, 1915- August 10, 1994 # 91824471

Dale E. Rauscher, 78, Goodland, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 1994, at Northwest Kansas Regional Medical Center, Goodland. Mr. Rauscher was born Dec. 16, 1915, near Haxtun, Colo., and was a longtime resident of Goodland. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and had been a prisoner of war in Germany. He and his wife owned the Village Inn Restaurant, Goodland. He was Goodland's postmaster from 1951 until retiring in 1972. He was a member and officer of the National Association of Postmasters, member and past president of the Rotary Club, charter member of the Jaycees, and member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Goodland Elks, Goodland Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Taps Club, Disabled American Veterans, Second Air Division Association, 44th Bomb Group, Stalag Luft Ill-Germany National American Ex-Prisoners of War, Kansas Prisoners of War and the Goodland Housing Authority. He also was a scout leader. Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Goodland; a daughter, Jane Harris of Wichita; two brothers, Reon of El Cajon, Calif., and Glenn of Goodland; a sister, Mona Rauscher of El Cajon; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren. The funeral is at 10 a.m. Mountain time today at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Goodland, the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial is in Goodland Cemetery with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1133.

Glen is a meat cutter in 1940 Goodland, living with the Robert Schell family.

Glen Samuel Rauscher, WWII Navy, born April 10, 1921, died Feb 22, 2003 and is buried in Elmdale, Kansas.

The Dailey high school reunion in 1993 included Mona Rauscher of El Cajon, California.

SSDI has Mona born Feb 20, 1914, dying August 5, 2002.
