family. During the summers he learned carpentry from his
dad, and together they built several residential homes in
Terre Haute, Ind.
During this time, his family had grown to include four
sons and a daughter, for whom he built a three bedroom
“country” home on a hill. Ted also taught a few years at
Corey High School in Ind., and then moved his family to
Casper, Wyo., for a year where he taught junior high school
and college math classes, while he searched for a full-time
college teaching position.

to care for Ted’s aging parents and remained there for five

worked as a realtor and taught part time at Indiana State
University during those years.
Upon retirement, the couple took sailing lessons and soon
thereafter bought a 40 ft. motorsailor, the “Tedwina”, and
spent three years living aboard and cruising the Gulf of
Mexico, the Florida Keys and along the east coast up to
Washington, D.C.
In 1992, Ted and Edwina returned to “land living” and
established a home on Dexter Lake near Eugene. Ted spent ten

and RVing through all of the lower forty nine states. Ted’s
last move was to Coeur d’Alene, where he sought medical
