In June 1950 Mrs. Duff Mollohan was the pianist for the wedding of Miss
Berniece Marks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Marks of Fleming, married John
Schram. Berniece was her cousin, and was living in Steamboat Springs
in 1949.
Donald Hobart "Jiggs" Mollohan, age 92, of Otis, Colorado, died at
home on May 11, 2008. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 16, 2008 at the St. Peters Catholic Church Cemetery, Fleming, Colorado. Don was born on February 12, 1916 to Warder and Irma (Reip) Mollohan in Sterling, Colorado. He grew up on his Dad's homestead in the LeRoy community of Logan County, Colorado completed the eighth grade at Harding High School and embarked on his own ranching/farming career on his Grandfather's homestead in Washington County, Colorado in 1935. He joined the U. S. Navy in March 1942 and served during World War II as a Gunners Mate on merchant marine ships transporting supplies for the fighting forces in the South Pacific and lumber off the west coast of the U.S. On September 24, 1943 he married Florence "Dolly" Diamond of Akron, Colorado, in Seattle, Washington. After his discharge from the U. S. Navy in October, 1945 the couple returned to Colorado and settled on the farm in Washington County, where he has resided for the past 63 years. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly, a daughter, Rita Jo Mollohan, his brother, Duff Mollohan and his sister, Virginia Mills. He is survived by his sister, Mary Reed-Goff of Fleming, Colorado, and his children, Mary Mekelburg of Greeley, Colorado, James Mollohan of Aurora, Colorado, Helen Utley of Westminster, Colorado, Thomas Mollohan of Thermopolis, Wyoming, Timothy Mollohan of Otis, Colorado, Robert Mollohan of Otis, Colorado, Susan Seward of Superior, Colorado, Teresa Knutzen of Thermopolis, Wyoming, Evelyn Conrad if Klamath Falls, Oregon, Michael Mollohan if Saginaw, Michigan and Patrick Mollohan of Waterford, Michigan, 22 grand children and 6 great-grandchildren. |
