John H. cash-claimed  a quarter in 24, 6N 50W in 1894, and one 7, 6N 49W in 1910.

John H. Held married Lizzie Gallon April 24, 1895 in LeRoy, Logan County.

In 1900 John H. Held, born April 1868 in Illinois, has been married five years to Lizzie M., born June 1877 in Nebraska.  She's had one child, none living.

John G. Held, born March 1834 in Germany, has been married 33 years to Elizabeth, January 1835, Germany.  He immigrated in 1855, she in 1862.

In 1910 Logan County "J. George" Held is 75, widowed.

In 1910 Sterling, John is a real estate agent, and here Lizzie says she's had four children, all living.  Mable 8, Luella 6, Mildred 3, and a eight month old daughter.

In 1920 Logan County, John is 51 - his father born in Stuttgart, mother in Alsace-Lorraine., and he and Elzaberth have Mabel A. 18, Luella R. 15, Mildred E. 12, Doris M. 10, John W. 5, and Evelyn 2.

John George 1834-1918 and Elizabeth (Eifert) Held 1835-1909 are buried in Sterling.

John Harvey Held 1868-1951 and Elizabeth (Gallon) Held 1878-1920 are buried in Sterling.  So  is Anna E . (Haugh) Held 1889-1969.

 John W. Held of 17915 County Road 370, Rt. 2,Sterling  died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1986, at Logan County Hospital. He was born May 12, 1914 at his Sterling home, 404 West Main, the son of John H. and Elizabeth Gallon Held, attended Sterling schools and at an early age worked with his father at the Sand and Gravel Co., in Sterling, went to Denver in 1930 to work at a service station for his brother-in-law, returning to Sterling in 1935 to begin his farm and cattle ranch operations northeast of Sterling.
He married Ruby Iona Myers, Nov. 26, 1938 in Sidney, Neb.
Mr. Held was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby I. Held of Sterling; two sons, Harry A. Held of Sterling. a former city councilman, and David W. Held of Brush; a sister, Birdie E. Parsons of Sterling; two sisters, Mabel Burns of Denver and Mildred Heffnieder of Joplin, Mo.; a step-sister, Irene Hartman of Redding, Calif.; a half brother, William Held of Sedalia; a half-sister, Alma Stevens of Denver; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Ruby I. Held, 83, of Sterling, died Sunday. Dec. 7, 2003, in Sterling. Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services are Thursday, Dec. 11 at 1:30 p.m., also at the funeral home, with Rev. John E. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery
Mrs. Held was born May 1,1920, in Sterling to Jess Pirl Myers and Birdie (Wilson)Myers.
On Nov. 26, 1938, she married John W. Held in Sidney, Neb.
She did volunteer shopping through the Red Cross for nursing home residents. She also danced at the Heritage Center on Saturday nights for 17 years. Mrs. Held attended Grace Bible Church and was a member of the Southsiders Home Demonstration Club.
She is survived by sons Harry A. Held and wife Dorothy A., and David W. Held; daughter Birdie E. Parsons and husband Ray J.; brother William H. Myers and wife Kay M., all of Sterling; special friends Thresa Kautz, of Sterling, and Annabelle Harding, of Padroni; five grandchildren; Six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1986; five sisters; and one step-great-grandchild.
