Draper and Charlie are likely second cousins - John A. Duffield 1767-1852 had Thomas 1804-1860 who had Given 1853-  and Given had Charlie

John also had Robert 1792-1855, who had Charles William Duffield 1816-1877 who had Draper Murphy Duffield 1881-1947

Charlie H. Duffield 1879-1930 and Elizabeth (Fluharty) Duffield 1883-1948 are buried in Sterling.

So are their sons Alva G. 1902-1957 and spouse Margaret Brown Duffield 1902-1990, and Gilbert 1916-1963

 In 1900 Ringgold County, Given is 48, Melia 37, with Cora 18, Arthur J. 16, John F. 15, William R. 13, George N. 12, Samuel 10, Elizabeth 8, Ollie 6, Mabel 3, Susie M. 1, and  step-son Charles 21.

Givens 1862-1903 and Amelia Alice Duffield 1862-1906 are buried in Oliver Cemetery, Ringgold COunty.

In 1910 Ringgold County, Iowa, Ray is 23, married to Pearl M. 17, both born in Iowa, and his five sisters are living with them.  Elizabeth 18, Ola 16, Mabel 13, Susie M. 11, and Nora G. 7.  In the next household John Duffield, 26, is a hired man.

Ray W. Duffield proved up a quarter in 21, 10N 52W in 1914.

Ray William Duffield registered with a Padroni, Colorado address, born July 26, 1885 at Kellerton, Iowa (same area as Charlie's folks), was farming, and had a wife and two children.

In 1920 Ringgold County, Ray and Pearl are back, with Leland 8 born in Iowa, Doris 4 born in Colorado, and sister Neva 16.

William Ray 1886-1944 and Pearl May 1892-1985 Duffield are buried in Maple Row cemetery, Ringgold County.

Born February 20, 1933, in Kellerton, Iowa, Dennis was the son of William "Ray" and Pearl (Harris) Duffield.  Dennis died Jan 14, 2012.

Duffield Family Reunion

The descendants of Givens DUFFIELD held their 27th annual reunion on July 14, 2013, at the Earlham community center in Earlham. A potluck dinner was enjoyed at noon. There were 34 people in attendance including three first cousins, Doris GIBSON, [?] and Vera ROBINS. This reunion was started by many of those first cousins of which only a very few are still living, some unable to come.

The host of this year's reunion was the family of Cora E. DUFFIELD CLOUSE, one of the GIVEN'S 13 children. The tables were decorated in blue with yellow roses on the tables. Prizes were give to the oldest woman and the oldest man, Doris GIBSON and Donald CLOUSE, and also the youngest boy and girl, Jesse JOHNSON and Kaydyn BOLINGER. Also prizes were given to those coming the farthest, Curt DUFFIELD and family and Keieth and Janice REASON. The DUFFIELDS came from Cedar Rapids and the REASONS from Clear Lake.

A short business meeting was held. Families introduced themselves. They took a few minutes to honor two family members deceased during the past year, Don HARRIS and Robert TREADWAY. A few games were played as well as several exciting bingo games. Family history books and pictures were displayed.

Those attending were Donald and Juanita CLOUSE of Messena; Joan CAREY of Winterset; Janice, Keith and Dakota REASON of Clear Lake; Eileen MASON of Mount Ayr; Theronand Marilyn JOHNSON of Delphos; Vera ROBINS of Des Moines; Pat EDWARDS of Urbandale; Curt and Anne DUFFIELD, Dillon DUFFIELD and Jesse JOHNSON of Cedar Rapids; Barry and Pam JACKSON of Kellerton; Kathy RAINS of Leon; Doris GIBSON of Kellerton; Joyce KASTER and Brent KASTER of Indianola; James and Emilie CAREY and Jim and Donna CAREY of Earlham; Chad, Jerica and Kayden of Tingley; and Bryan, Amy, Kasey, Addie and Greichary KASTER of Harlan.

Plans for the July 2014 reunion will be made by the Sam DUFFIELD family
