Mary Northrop Carpenter, brother Lucius Northrup, son Wallace Carpenter.

 In 1860 Woodford County, Illinois William H. Northrup is 57.  He has William H. 22, Sarah L. 20, Fanny L, 18, MARY E 14, LUCAS C. 12, Julius B. 10, and Lucy A. 6. 

Josephine R. Carpenter married William H. Northrup March 8, 1863 in Woodford County. 

William likely is the same one in 1875 Lancaster County, Nebraska, 36, with Josey E. 28 and three kids,

Julius likely married Alpha, and in 1880 they're in Lancaster County, too, with Kirk R.3.  Kirk Randolph Northup registered in Elbert County, Colorado,  relative Bernice.  In 1930 Chicago Julius, now 79, is living with Kirk and Bernice.

Mary Ellen Northrup 1846-1926 married David H. Carpenter in 1867 in Woodford County, Illinois

In 1870 Woodford County, Illinois, David 30 and Ella 24 have Eva, one.  With them are Lucius Northrop 22 and Julius Northrop, 19, both farmers..  All were born in Illinois.

Mary  proved up a quarter in 20, 6N 48W in 1893.

David died 1881 in Smith Center, Kansas

D.H. Carpenter - Co D, 108th Illinois Inf, is buried in Womer Cemetery, Smith County, Kansas.

David Henry  CARPENTER, b. 6 Apr 1840 in Olney, Richland Co., Ill.; d. 26 Mar 1881 in Smith Co., Kans.; bur. Womer Cem., Kans.; md. 22 Nov 1868 in Woodford Co., Ill. Mary Ellen NORTHRUP.

In 1860 Woodford County, Illinois, Mary E. Northrup is 14, one of seven kids of William H. Northrup, 51.

In 1880 Smith County, Kansas, David is 38, ELLEN M. 34, with Eva 11, Bessa 8, Earnest 5, Lou 4,  and Wallace 1 - all seven born in Illinois.

In 1900 Franklin County, Nebraska, Mary Carpenter, widowed, born Oct 1846 in Illinois, has had six kids, all living.  With her are Ernest Aug 1874, Wallace W. July 1848, and Mary E. Jun 1880 Kansas.

Daughter Mary married Daniel W. Pumroy, and they're in Franklin County in 1910 with four kids.  D.W. Pumroy was running a saloon in Riverton in the 1905-1908 era

Mary P. Carpenter,  64, Illinois is still in Franklin County in 1910, with Ernest 35 - no occupation.

1917 Topeka, Kansas 'F. W. Carpenter, who is motoring through from Fontana, Kansas, to Riverton, Nebraska, spent the night in the city with Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Holmes."

WALLACE CARPENTER

In 1900 Franklin County, Nebraska, Willis 46 and Hattie 41 Ireland have Edith 22, Mildred 20, Mary 18, Nellie 9, Frank W. 3 the girls born in Kansas, Frank in Nebraska.

 In 1910 Miami County, Kansas, Wallace W. Carpenter is 31, married to Mamie, 27, with Harrold 7, Irma 5, Clifford 2, and Fona N. newborn.

Mamie died in 1917 and is buried in Miami County  35326218

Wallace W. Carpenter registered in Eckley, saying he was born July 8, 1878, and was a merchant.   Nearest relative Irma M. Carpenter of Eckley. 

In 1919 Eckley he called the first meeting of the Eckley Oil and Land Company, at the offices of Pounds and Carpenter.In 1920 Eckley he has no occupation, 40, born in Illinois,  married to Nell, 34, Colorado.   

July 10, 1919 "W.W. Carpenter, one of the best known merchants of Eckley, and Miss Nell Amos of San Francisco, California, were married last week in Denver."

1919 Reno, Nevada "Wallace W. Carpenter, who has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. F... north of Manhattan, has gone to Colorado.  His wife will remain in Manhattan for the present."

That must be the Nell Amiss that Wallace W. Carpenter married June 30, 1919, recorded in Denver.  In 1920 they have Harold 17 Nebraska, Irma 14 Nebraska, Clifford 12 Nebraska, and Iona 10 Kansas. 

California death index has William Wallace Carpenter born July 8, 1878, dying Mar 16, 1959 in Los Angeles, mother's maiden name Northrup.

Thomas H. Johnson was born July 1882 in Nebraska, and was with parents in Haigler, Nebraska in 1900 (where Nellie's parents were)

Milton F. Davis, 30, born in Kansas,  married Rebecca Johnston 26, born in Dundy County Nebraska, March 14, 1914 in Otoe County, Nebraska.

1917 "Mrs. Belle Davis arrived in Wray Tuesday morning and her son, Milton Davis, met her here and took her out to his homestead south of Eckley.  Mrs. Davis is from Claremont, Nebraska, and will remain indefinitely with her son."

Wallace's sister-in-law might be the Nellie M. Ireland married to Thomas H. Johnston.  In 1920 Vernon, Thomas H. is 37, Nellie M 27 or 37, with Byron 6 and Thomas L. four months.

In 1922 Milton owned two quarters in 1N 46W, ones originally claimed by Elijah Thurman in 1913. 

They're still in Vernon in 1930, with Byron, Thomas, Donna C. 8, Dale W. 6, Keith B. 3 and Fern E. 1.

In 1940 Vernon Thomas and Nellie have Dale W. 16, Keith B. 13, Fern E. 10, and Bonnie J. 6.

Thomas' sister E. Rebecca might have married Milton F Davis, and in 1920 Eckley he's 3, she's 32, with Earl F. 3, Gladys A. nine months, and his mother Belle, 67.  In 1930 they're back in Otoe County, Nebraska, where Thomas was born.  Milton F. Davis, born Aug 29, 1883, son of Marion Francis & Mary Belle Lowrey Davis, Married to Emma Rebecca Johnston on March 4, 1914.

In 1920 Franklin County Ernest is 45, Ella 74 - so she used many first names.

In the Franklin County obituary file is

Mary Ellen "Ella" (Northrup) Carpenter's obituary does mention that she died in Sterling, Colorado on 15 Jan 1926 and was brought back to Riverton Nebraska for burial.  There is a probate for her in Franklin County Nebraska. Number PR26-01-05 filed Jan 28, 1926.   Thanks to Lynn Chase.
One tree says her brother William Henry Northrup born Oct 23, 1845 in Illinois, married Josephine Carpenter March 8, 1863 in Woodford County, Illinois, and died July 19, 1921 in Franklin County.  In 1850 Richland County, Illinois, Josephine was 5, brother David 10.  So Mary and her brother William married David Carpenter and his sister Josephine.

One tree says they had six kids -

EVA 1869 -1936 married a Siel and died in Sterling. 

That must be Henry B. Siel, married to Eva S. in 1900 Franklin County, with six kids up to 12 years old.

 Eva, born Jun 3, 1869, died Mar 6, 1936, and is buried in Riverton Valley, Franklin County.

BESSIE probably married William Hunt, and in 1900 Franklin County she was born Nov 1871 in Illinois, William March 1859 in England.  They have William A. 12, Delbert W. 7 and Howard E. 4.

Haxtun-Fleming Herald, Haxtun, CO, 10 March 1999

Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 1999, for Mildred Evelyn [Northup] Wisdom, 85, Haxtun, at the Tennant-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Haxtun. Burial will follow at Haxtun Cemetery. Reverend Thomas Peacock will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Wisdom died on Monday, March 8, 1999.

Mildred was born August 23, 1913, in Glade, KS, to Everett and Olive [Mitchell] Northup. She grew up in the Fleming and Haxtun area, where she attended the Rockland School south of Dailey.

On April 7, 1931, she married Roy Wisdom in Sterling. They lived and farmed in the Rockland community most of their married life, retiring and moving to Haxtun in 1987. Mildred enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, canning, and making crafts. She was a member of the Fleming United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert Wisdom and wife Barbara, Sterling; a daughter, Janice Heaston and husband Woody, Peoria, AZ; sisters Elva Steffen and husband Elmo, Fort Morgan, Melva Bowles, Fort Morgan, Elma Ecord, Overton, KS, Olive Mitchell and husband Bob, Cypress, TX; brother Darold Northup, Uvalde, TX; grandchildren Steve Wisdom and wife Rhonda, Sterling, Sandra Fletcher, Golden, Scott Heaston and wife Kathy, Peoria, AZ, and Kelli Heaston, Peoria, AZ; and great-grandchildren Kerri, Shanna, and Samantha Wisdom, Sterling, Haley Fletcher, Golden, and Brenda Heaston, Peoria, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Sadie Caneva and Luella Myers, and brothers Harold Northup and Oral Northup.

Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Tennant-Thompson Funeral Home, Haxtun.

Melva L. Bowles, 77, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born February 25, 1931, in Haxtun, CO to Everett & Olive Northup. The Northup family moved to the New Raymer community where Melva attended and later graduated from New Raymer High School. Melva worked as a secretary at the Fort Morgan Middle School for 12 years. She later provided home care for several elderly folks in the Fort Morgan area. She enjoyed working in her garden, playing the piano, baking wedding cakes, and doing crafts of all types. Survivors include her 2 children, Cheryll Steinbeck of North Platte, NE, and Tim Bowles of Olathe, KS; 1 brother, Dan Northup of Texas; 2 sisters, Elva Steffen of North Platte, NE and Olive Mitchell of Cypress, TX; 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Oral Northup and Harold Northup; 4 sisters, Luella Meyers, Mildred Wisdom, Sadie Caneva, and Elma Ecord; and her parents. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. The service will conclude at the chapel. Inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan at a later date. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Eben Ezer Care Center Sommerlyst Unit or to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o Heer Mortuaries.

LUCIUS - BROTHER OF MARY

Lucius P. Northrup, 28, married Ella Scott, 22, in Champaign, Illinois in 1876.

In 1880 Woodford County, Illinois "Lucian"  32 and Ella M. 26 have Gordon, 3.

In 1900 Smith County, Kansas, Lucius Northup, born Jan 1848 in Illinois, and Henrietta 47, have Gordon W. 24, born in Illinois.

In 1910 Yuma County - Lucius P. Northrup, 62, born in Illinois, farming, has been married 34 years to Henrietta, 57, Indiana. She's had one kid, still living.

1913

Lucius made final proof on the northwest quarter of 10, 2N 47W May 9, 1913, with witnesses Elmer Brown, Stephen Car, Elgar L. Waters, and Filmore Clawson, all of Yuma.

1914 "L.P. Northrup returned Wednesday morning from a visit to Smith County, Kansas.  He reports that section of the Sunflower State as greatly in need of rain."

In 1916, 1917, and 1918 M.M. Bulkeley presented the final settlement of the estate of Lucius P. Northrup, deceased, in Yuma County.

LUCIUS' son GORDON

In 1910 Smith County Gordon W. Northrop is 33, Maud M. 27, May C. 6, Gordon E. 3, and newborn Eldon F.

In 1915 Smith County, Kansas G.W. Northrup is 38, Illinois, married to M.M. 31, Iowa  They have  C.M. 11, female, E.G. 8- male, E.S. 5 male, E.V. 1 female. - all kids in Kansas.

Gordon William Scott Northrup was married and farming in Kit Carson County when he registered, born Dec 29, 1876, but in 1940 Weld County he's alone, farming.

In 1930 G.W. Northup 53 and son Emerald 23 are in Fort Lupton, Weld County.

Gordon William "Grandpa" Northrup - 1876-1941 is buried in Hillside cemetery, Fort Lupton. 57178152.  So is Eldon Freemont Northrup - 1909-1975 and his wife Stella 1912-1991

Emerald Gordon Northrop married Opal Gertrude Dickerson April 2, 1938 in Fort Lupton.

In 1940 Emerald is in Delta County, a laborer, married to Opal, born in Kansas, both 33.  Opal was in Fruita, Colorado in 1935, and is teaching at a denominational school.

Emerald, born January 18, 1907 died in June 1985 - last address Mesa County, Colorado.

Emerald G. and Opal G. 1907-1994 are buried in Memorial Gardens, Grand Junction.

Eldred Northrup married Alex Yeager April 30, 1939, recorded in Boulder County.
