Lucinda is with parents Sandford 52 and Eliza 45 Coe in 1850 Jackson County, Virginia.  She married James Lake of Ohio Nov 13, 1853.

Harvey is with James 30 and Lucinda 26 Lake in Licking County, Ohio in 1860, three years old, with sister Susan four months and Vincent Lake, 22.

Civil War Pension General Index 1861-1943 names Lucinda as Widow with a minor. A Mr. Gill's name also appears as a guardian.. James Lake enlisted Aug. 1, 1862 and with a disability was discharged Dec. 29, 1862.  He's buried in 1863 in Licking County, Ohio.

Lucinda married George Washington Gill March 5, 1866 in Clay County, Illinois.

In 1870 Lucinda is married to Geo. W. Gill in Clay County Illinois, with their kids Harriet 4 and Samuel 2, and Lucinda' s kids Howy 13, Charley 9, Sarah 7, and Bill 3.

In 1880 Clay County Nebraska, Lucinda is 46, married to G.W. Gill, 45, with Harvy 22

1899 Sterling

GEORGE W. GILL. During the year 1895 Mr. Gill purchased a farm two and one-half miles north of Atwood in Logan County, and here he afterward resided, engaging in the stock business, and at the same time carrying on general farm pursuits. One of the respected citizens of his locality, he gave his aid to all measures for the benefit of his community, especially to such as promote the general prosperity and mutual welfare. His death, March 6, 1899, was a loss to his friends and the citizenship of the county.

The birth of our subject occurred in Vinton County, Ohio, February 18, 1835, and he was one of the ten children of Joseph and Margaret  (Dunkle) Gill. His father, a native of West Virginia, born about 1795, in early manhood migrated to Ohio and settled in Vinton County, where he purchased a farm and engaged in agricultural pursuits His death occurred there when he was sixty-one years of age. He was a sincere Christian and an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. After settling in Ohio he married Miss Dunkle, who was born in Pennsylvania.

July 25, 1861, our subject enlisted in Company K, Fortieth Illinois Infantry, and served his country faithfully during the dark days of the war. Among the engagements in which he took part were those at Shiloh, Vicksburg, siege of Atlanta, Missionary Ridge and Sherman's march to the sea. He was mustered out of the service July 24, 1865, at Springfield, Ill. Afterward he always maintained an interest in the Grand Army of the Republic and enjoyed meeting with veterans of the war. March 4, 1866, he married Mrs. Lucinda (Coe) Lake, a native of Virginia, where her father, Sanford Coe, was an influential farmer, and her first husband, James Lake, was also a farmer there. She was the mother of two children by Mr. Lake, of whom the older, Charles L. Lake, is deputy county treasurer of Logan County, Colo.; and the younger, Harvey Lake, is engaged in the mercantile business at Atwood.

After his marriage Mr. Gill engaged in operating a rented farm. In 1872 he removed to Nebraska and took up a homestead in Clay County, of which he was among the earliest settlers. He was successfully engaged in farming there and continued to make that county his home until 1895, when he crossed the line into Colorado, purchasing the ranch where his family now make their home. However, he still continued to hold his Nebraska farm, which he leased. In politics he was from youth a stalwart believer in Republican, principles, and always voted the ticket of
his party. He became the father of four children, namely: Addie, wife of Wilder Jones, a stockman of Logan County; Samuel, who is engaged in farming in Lane County, Kan.; Frank and Ernest, who reside in Logan County.

In 1900 Harvey is running a grocery store in Logan County, with Ellen, Dora Oct 1882 Nebraska, James March 1882 Nebraska, Clarence May 1882 Colorado, and Harold Feb 1898 Colorado.

In 1910 Clear Creek County, Colorado, Harvey is 52, running a meat market , Ellen 48, James E. 26 is a meat cutter, Clarence 17 a clerk, and Dewey 10.

Ellen is widowed in 1920 Georgetown, Colorado, living with Dewey 20 - a salesman at a retail market.

Harvey S. Lake 1857-1910 and Ellen G. Lake 1861-1945 are buried in Sterling Riverside Cemetery.

One tree said she was born Dec 22, 1833 in Jackson County WV to Sanford Coe b 1798 and Elizabeth Rowell, b 1805.

Lucinda married James Lake Nov 13, 1853 in Jackson County WV.

In 1900 Logan County, Lucindy C. Gill is widowed, born Dec 1838 in Virginia, and daughter Hattie M. Jones, Sep 1866 in Illinois and her husband Wilder A. May 1868 and their daughter Eva J. Sep 1896.

Hattie and Wilder are buried in Harvard, Clay County, Nebraska.

On the same page in 1900 Logan County is Samuel Gill, Oct 1868 Illinois and his wife Martha July 1876.

1900 "Born - to Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gill, living northwest of town, Sunday, July 22, a son."

Samuel and Martha are farming in Phillips County in 1910, with Clark C. 9, Glen G. 8, and Ina L. 6.

Samuel is divorced in 1920, living in Yuma County, and is single in 1930 Crook County Wyoming.

In 1940 he's71, widowed,  in Galesburg, Illinois with daughter Inez Hamilton, 36, divorced, running a power machine in an overall factory,  with Velma 17, born in Colorado.  Charles Linn 37, Inez's cousin born in Kansas, is also with them.

He died July 23, 1940 in Galesburg, Illinois, born Oct 20, 1868 in Decatur, Illinois, buried in Galesburg Memorial Park.  Father Alexander Gill, mother Lucenda Lahe, spouse Martha Lim

1954 Galesburg Dan Van Fleet, 82, Knoxville, and Wallace Bailey, Gilson, were seriously hurt at the Knox County Fair Grounds at Knoxville when a stunt car driven by Barney Sullivan, crashed through the inside fence of the race track. Others injured included Will- rrfott Pickrel, Knoxville; Marvin Essex, London Mills; Florence Courter, Knoxville, and Mrs. Inez Hamilton, Galesburg.

Martha M. 1876-1923 is buried in Sterling Riverside.

He's in Cass County, Missouri in 1910, working for the Brundage Stedwell family.

John E. Lake proved up 160 acres in 14, 9N 54W in 1920.

Gertrude Lake "formerly Gertrude J. Wells" proved up a quarter in 9N 53W in 1919.  She might be the daughter ofBuy and Julia Wells in 1910 Holt County, Nebraska, 26, born in Nebraska.  Siblings are Alice 24, Roy 28, Howard 16, Walter 14, and Edith 12.

Guy Loomis Wells married Julia Laurilla Woodbury Dec 24, 1881 in West Point, Nebraska and died Nov 17, 1936 in Logan County.

In 1920 Fisher precinct, Logan County, John E. Lake is 29, Gertrude J. 35, and they have five-month Vera.

J.Estel Lake - Sep 7, 1890- Jan 6, 1972 and Gertrude - Apr 15, 1884 - Mar 10, 1959 are buried in Sterling Rivrside.

Kittie Edith Wells - Gertrude's sister - was born April 29, 1897 in Newport, Nebraska, married Fritz C. Koester De 16, 1916, and died in Sterling Oct 13, 1951.

Grant Lake, born June 9, 1890 in Sterling Colorado to Charles L. Lake and Lovina Crook,  registered in Dallas, born June 9, 1890 in Sterling, was a clerk for Emerson Branton, and had a wife and two children. 

"Great rejoicing at the home of County Clerk Lake Monday morning, all on account of a bouncing big boy.  C.L. says for the next ten days he will issue marriage certificates free of charge.  Here is your chance, young man, go and do likewise."

Grant died March 24, 1956 in Dallas, Texas.

In 1900 Denton Texas, Charles is a collector of accounts, born May 1861 in Ohio, married to Hanna L. Nov 1861 Wisconsin.  Virgie Dec 1884 Nebraska, Iva Nov 1886 Colorado, Grant June 1890 Colorado, and Hazel April 1894 Colorado.

In 1910 Dallas, on Bishop Street, C.L. Lakes is 48, H.L. 48, Iva 23, Grant 19, and Hazel 16.  Grandchildren Erba Mae Grantham 2 and Virgie Grantham two months are also with them.  The girls are also in the 1910 census in Oklahoma, with grandparents T.J. and C.J. - and Beeson Grantham, 25, widowed.

April 17, 1913, Grant Lake and Rose Elizabeth Bushell had a daughter, and on July 23, 1914 they had a son.

Grant Lake, Jr. and Florence Louise Randall had Martha Ann Lake March 13, 1949 in Dallas. "While overseas she met Grant Lake, Jr., whom she married in December of 1946 in Dallas, Texas. Their daughter, Martha Ann Lake, was born there. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1959"

Martha Davies was living in Northfield, Minnesota in 2010.

Grant died in 1956, and is buried in Grove Hill.  So is Grant Lake, Jr., who died Sept 16, 1993 in Dallas.
