| Samuel Irwin Harvey was born in Belmont, Belmont county, Ohio, June
25, 1832, his parents being William and Rachel [Irwin] Harvey. He was of
a family of three children, of which, one, a sister, Mrs. Sarah Ramsdell
of Tama City, Iowa, survives him. In his early manhood he moved with his parents and sisters to Tama county, Iowa, where he engaged in farming and stock raising, for many years. He was married to Sarah Electa Hanna, May 30, 1860. To this union was born six children, two of them, a son and a daughter, dying in infancy. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sarah Ramsdell of Tama City, Iowa, and two sons and two daughters, Mr. Hugh R. Harvey and Horace Harvey of Garfield, Utah. Mrs. Luther M. Bowles of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. R. D. Logan of Stockville, Nebr. He removed to Republican City, Nebr., in Sept. 1882, and afterwards to Denver, Colo., where his wife passed away in Aug. 1889, since which time he has lived principally with his children. After a long and useful fife (sic) he died Wednesday morning at 1:30, April 17, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. D. Logan, aged 85 yrs., 9 mo., and 22 days.
