Henry S. Hammond

Henry cash-claimed a quarter in 17, 6N 48W in 1891.  That must be the quarter in 1890 in the newspaper list of delinquent taxes in section 7, 6N 48 W.

 In 1900 Billings, Montana a railroad conductor -  Henry, born Dec 1866, has been married five years to Katie B. Jan 1869, born in Iowa.  They have Dorothy M. born May 1900 in Montana.

In 1910, still a conductor in Billings, they have added Edwin, 7, born in Montana.

In 1920, still a conductor in Billings, Henry and "Cate" are alone.

1924 Billings Mrs. H. S. Hammond will leave Friday for a month's visit with her daughter, Miss Dorothy Hammond, who is supervisor of the ' kindergarten department in the Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Fails, and her son an attorney in Lincoln. Neb., where he completed his work in the law department of the Nebraska university last year. ' Miss Dorothy Hammond is attending the International kindergarten convention at Minneapolis and will join her mother there, and continue to Cedar Falls with her. After several weeks there .Mrs. Hammond will return by way of Lincoln for a visit with her  son

Kate B. Hammond was buried April 9, 1929 in Billings. Henry S. Hammond was buried there April 27, 1960.  "Henry S. Hammond, age 93, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Billings.   Committal services will be held Wednesday at Mountview Cemetery.

Mr. Hammond is survived by a son, a daughter, a sister, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren."

In 1940 Jefferson County, Colorado,  Henry is widowed, 73, living with daughter Dorothy, married to Floyd K. Reed, born in Nebraska, a statistician with U.S.D.A. (REED homesteaded next to Henry, but that might be a coincidence).

1926 - Billings Girl Marries Floyd K. Reed at Nashua, Iowa. A very simple but charming wedding  .. Mr.-- Henry S. Hammond, of 320 North Thirty-third street   The wedding took place Wednesday morning, June 2,  in the Little Brown Church in the Vale" near Nashua, Iowa. The Rev. Mr. Hanna,   in the presence of relatives of the two a few friend....

Floyd and Dorothy were in Arlington, Virginia in 1930.  He was born Floyd Kreamer Reed at Abbott, Nebraska November 11, 1899 to a merchant, J.A. Reed, born Oct 1843 in Pennsylvania and M.A. Reed, born Oct 1862 in Pennsylvania.
