Dora Fetzer born Jan 6, 1845 in  Neuberg, South Russia, died January 8, 1920, and is buried in Loveland, Colorado

Dona arrived in New York in September 1910 on the George Washington, with son Leonhard 33, his wife Magdalena 29, and their children Karolina 7 and Johannes 4.

Fredrich, Mathilde and Reinhold arrived April 26, 1910 in New York - third class - on the S.S. George Washington, sailing from Bremen. Fred proved up a quarter in 18, 6N 48W in 1917.

Reinhold may be the Leonhard Fetzer proving up a quarter in 21, 7N 48W in 1918.

In 1920 Rockland precinct Frederic, 38, and Matilda 35, both immigrating in 1910, with Reinhold 10, born in Russia, Oscar 8, and Henry John 6 - both born in Colorado.

In 1930 New Haven precinct Fred and "Tillie" have Rineholt, Osar, Henry, and Freda 9.

In 1940 Fleming precinct Fred and Tillie have Freda M. 20, and Reinhald 30.

EARLY ROCKLAND SETTLER PASSES

Funeral Services for Jacob Fetzer Were Held in Haxtun Church Sunday

Funeral services were held in Haxtun Sunday for Jacob Fetzer, one of the early settlers in the Rockland district. The Rev. W.C. Johnson, pastor of the Evangelical church at Dailey preached the funeral sermon. He read the following obituary:

Jacob Fetzer was born in Seimenthal, Russia, March 15, 1869. He died at his home eight miles south of Dailey, Colorado, March 31, aged 63 years and 16 days.

He received his confirmation in the Lutheran church when 15 years of age, at Eigenheim, in southern Russia, and remained a member of that church until his death.

He came to the United States in 1889, finally settling in eastern Logan County, Colorado, where he was a successful farmer.

On June 13, 1894 he was united in marriage to Miss Kate Schachterle, who preceded him in death February 15, 1931. There were twelve children born to this union, all of whom survive him. Elizabeth, John, Fred T., Christina, Minnie, Edward, Carl, Theodore, Clara, Alvena, Jacob L. and Andrew. There is one granddaughter, Esther May.

Mr. Fetzer had been afflicted for several years, and suffered great pain at times, but was withal a patient sufferer; and though thus handicapped continued active in the management of his interests until the middle of December, when he was compelled to take to his bed, from which he passed to the other shore.

Besides his immediate family, there remain eight brothers and one sister; two brothers and a sister in Russia, three brothers in North Dakota and three in the Rockland neighborhood.

The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Episcopal church in Haxtun, by the Rev. W.C. Johnson, pastor of the Evangelical church of Dailey-Rockland, assisted by the Rev. A.M. Carpenter of the Methodist church. Interment was made in the Haxtun cemetery. The choir of the Dailey church furnished the music. Six sons acted as pall-bearers.

The respect in which Mr. Fetzer was considered was evidenced by the large number attending the funeral. Nearly the entire Rockland community being present, as well as friends from Dailey and Haxtun

HAXTUN—Mrs. Rose Fetzer, 84, of Haxtun, died Friday in Haxtun.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m., Tuesday from the United Methodist Church, the Rev. Gordon J. Benesh officiating. Burial will follow in the Haxtun cemetery.
Mrs. Fetzer was born Oct. 7, 1888, in Sumany, Russia, the daughter of Henry and Katherine Hehn Neubauer. She came to the United States with her parents Feb. 26, 1906, and settled in the Loveland area where she married Theodore Fetzer, Feb. 13, 1910.
After her marriage the couple homesteaded in the Rockland community, south of Dailey. Mr. Fetzer died Dec. 4, 1944, and Mrs. Fetzer remained on the homestead until 1953 when she moved to Haxtun.
Mrs. Fetzer is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Emma Sonneman of Haxtun, Mrs. Leona Mathies of Yuma and Mrs. Luella Lousberg of Farmington, N.M.; a son, Leon Fetzer of Haxtun; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Croissant of Johnstown and Mrs. Louise Mitzel of South Gate, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.

Emma C. Sonneman, 91, Haxtun, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 in Holyoke. She was born March 11, 1913 on the family homestead near Rockland, in Logan County, to Theodor and Rose (Neubauer) Fetzer.

She attended the Rockland School. Afterwards she worked for people assisting them with cooking and housekeeping.

She met and married Herman Sonneman in 1938. The couple moved west of Haxtun, where Emma stayed until her death.

Early in life Emma was a member of the Rockland Evangelical Church. After marriage she became a life long member of the Haxtun Methodist Church.

Her life focused on her family, church, and friends. She was active in the family farming operation, finding joy working in the flower and vegetable garden, canning the produce and sharing the bounty with others. She was famous for her cooking and baking, her meals being enjoyed by family and friends. In the 1950s she took the position as lunch cook at the Daily Grade School.

Her hobbies included crocheting items for family and friends. She enjoyed writing letters and sending cards to mark birthdays and other occasions. She will be remembered as a kind, generous woman of immense strength who will be missed by those she touched.

Survivors include her daughter Kathryn Andresen, Federal Way, Washington; son Melvin Sonneman, Haxtun; brother Leon Fetzer, Haxtun; sister Luella Lousberg, Farmington, New Mexico; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Leon Emil Fetzer went to the loving arms of Jesus on May 3, 2013. Visitation will be from 9 am. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Gerk Funeral Home, Haxtun. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at Haxtun United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Haxtun Cemetery.
Leon Emil Fetzer was born south of Haxtun at the family home on June 24, 1921, to Theodor and Rose Fetzer. At 4 years old, his parents built a home on the family homestead, in the Rockland community, where he lived a good majority of his life.
As a young child, Leon had many responsibilities on the farm, feeding and milking cows, gathering eggs from the chickens, tending to the garden and checking on crops. Leon attended North Rockland School. He told many stories about riding his horse, Dan to and from school.
Leon and his brother, Roland, worked for area farmers picking corn by hand. In 1944, Leon started farming for himself and in 1947 bought his first tractor, which was quite a change from farming with horses.
Leon met the love of his life, Dorothy Chamblin, and they married on June 16, 1946, in Dorothy's family home in the Highland Center community. To this union, five children were born. They raised all five children on the family farm.
Leon retired from farming in 1988, and moved to Haxtun in 1993, where he resided at the time of his death. He was a board member of the Haxtun Coop Oil Company and a member of the Rockland United Methodist Church and later at the Fleming United Methodist Church.
Leon always looked forward to opening day of pheasant hunting, spending the day with his sons and special hunting buddies. Leon enjoyed riding and working with horses, collecting antiques, and anything that involved talking about history. Leon enjoyed having coffee with his coffee buddies. He especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren out to the creek and looking for arrowheads.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Edna, brother, Roland, and sisters, Emma Sonnaman, and Leona Mathies.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy; children, Pauline and husband Gary Grabowski of Lakewood, Clayton and wife Yoland (Sam) of Windsor, Rosetta Phillips and husband Darrel, Duane and wife Melanie, Max and wife Polly, all of Haxtun; sister, Luella Lousberg of Farmington, N.M.; grandchildren, Zane Phillips, Matt Fetzer and wife Amy, Billy Fetzer and wife Jennifer, David Grabowski and wife Kristen, Debbie Grabowski, Ben Fetzer and wife Katie, Josh Fetzer and wife Mandee, Greg Fetzer, Elizabeth Fetzer, Dillon Fetzer and Tejay Fetzer; along with 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Leon will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fleming United Methodist Church.
