Ruth's family moved to Wasco when she was still a young child; she attended Maple School and graduated from Wasco High before attending UCLA, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree. On September 10, 1939 Ruth married the love of her life, Darrell Janzen, in Wasco. The couple loved to travel; and throughout the years, they took trips all over the world, visiting new countries and exploring new cultures. Ruth was a homemaker and mother, and her love shined through her care for her family. They will always remember what a wonderful cook she was, and will miss those delicious apple pies that she made time and time again. Ruth was also an artistic woman, who loved painting in her later years, but her favorite art to keep was the tiny handprints left on her sliding glass doors after her grandchildren had been by to visit. Ruth served on the PTA in Wasco, and was always active in her church family. She attended the First Baptist Church and the First Congregational Church, later known as Grace Community. Over the years she served as a Sunday school teacher and sang in various church choirs, along with staying active in women's groups. She will be dearly missed. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Janzen; and her siblings, Robert Wiebe, Paul Wiebe and Margaret Cooper. She is survived by her children, Stephen Janzen and his wife Linda, Donna and her husband Mike Cooley, and Keith Janzen and his wife Carol; her grandchildren, Sara Cooley, Jeffrey and his wife Heidi Cooley, Christopher Cooley, Natalie and her husband Curtis Lehmann, Jonathan Janzen, and Kara Janzen; her great grandchildren, Savannah and Shepard Cooley, and arriving any day, Aubrey Lehmann; along with her sister, Winifred Larimer and her husband Bob. A visitation for Ruth will be held at Peters Funeral Home, in Wasco, on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 4-7p.m. A memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church on Saturday, May 26, 2012 beginning at 1:30p.m. Pastor Joey Cardamone will officiate the service, and a private family interment will take place at Shafter Memorial Park.
