This time he is confined in the Weld county jail at Greeley on the serious charge of murder, his victim being an inoffensive rancher Rose, who lived in the ..... county. Rose,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hundred head of cattle, ,,,,,,,,,, a few weeks ago,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, discover his whereabouts............. ailing. His cattle were also missing. Sheriff Clark of Weld county, and Sheriff Ayre, of Logan county, and assistants went in search of the missing man and his cattle. They struck the trail of the cattle and following it in to Nebraska, finally camo up with them as they were being driven north by Cochran. Cochran was brought back to Greeley and the search for Rose continued. On the 17th inst his body was found buried in a sand hill eighteen miles south of Kimball, Nebraska. The evidence against Cochran as the murderer of Rose, is believed to be indisputable and it is thought that he soon will oome to tbe end of a rope hitched to a gallows beam. July 1900 Greeley 'A man from Texas was in the court house recently making inquiry about the sentence of Al Cochran, who was sent to the penitentiary from Weld county on a cumulative sentence of thirty years for cattle stealing. The man claimed that Cochran is a person of great amiability where best known. It is learned from Denver papers that the visitor was none other than Al Cochran's brother, bent on getting the insane cattle thief out of confinement. This is the same Al Cochran upon whose trail was found the murdered Paul Rose, shot in the back of the head, and his cattle in the possession of the supposed murderer."
