Frederick L. and Maude (Murphy) Aten, Burlington



In 1880 McDonough County, Illinois, William43 and Rachel 38 are farming, Ida is 19,"Frank" is 12, Dora 10, Frederick 7, and Edna 1.

In 1910 Burlington, Colorado, next to Ruby, Frederick L. is a merchant, 37, born in Illinois, married ten years to Maude M. 27 born in Kansas. She's had three kids, two living. Eugene W. 5 and Frederick H. 3 were both born in Colorado.

March 1912 "The F. L. Aten store has a very attractive show window displaying its spring opening of millinery. The work was done by the talent at the store and would be a credit to any window dresser."

June 1912 "F. L. Aten was seized very suddenly Tuesday with an attack of appendicitis and left Wednesday morning to enter a Denver hospital where it is feared he may be compelled to submit to an operation. He was accompanied by Dr. Merrill."

August 1912 "Mrs. F. L. Aten and sons Eugene and Freddie spent Sunday with her parents, E. F. Murphy and family at Goodland."

June 11, 1920 Goodland Kansas "Robert Donald Hemphill and Miss Esther Cassity, both of Olathc, Kans., were married Saturday by Charles Gregory. After a short visit in this city with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Crist they left for Burlington where Mr. Hemphill will be employed in the F. L. Aten store. "

Fred is buried in Burlington 1873-1970 # 88867528.
Maude (Murphy) Aten 1883-1941 is buried in Goodland # 85353179, dying in Topeka, Kansas.

In 1930 Fred Aten is an insurance adjuster in CHicago, with Josephine, both 25.

Fred is in Lansing, Michigan in 1940, 33, with Josephine E. 34 born in Illinois and Roger L. 4 born in Kansas.

Fred and Josephine divorced on May 16, 1945 in Ingham County, Michigan, marriyied in Chicago April 15, 1928.

Fred then married Ilene Hehl on June 2, 1945 in Detroit.

Roger Lee Aten, born Nov 12, 1935 in Illinois to mother Arenberg, died in Fresno County January 12, 1997.

EUGENE

Eugene Lester Aten, son of Fred Lester Aten and Maude Murphy, a retired psychiatrist, died in Dallas, Texas. The death certificate said he was bonr January 29, 1906 in Kansas.
He was widowed, and was to be buried in Restland, Dallas.
FindaGrave # 77366290 has his wife as Agnes (Fitzpatrick) Aten 1908-1960.
