Her half-sister "Anna A. Alexander was born in Cedar County, Iowa,
September 2, 1870, and departed this life December 7, l924,
aged 54 years, 3 months and 5 days. In 1878 she moved with her parents
to Phillips County.
At the age of sixteen years she was converted and
united with the Plum Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
In 1894 she united with the Dry Creek Baptist Church and on
August 21, 1894 she transferred her membership to the Phillipsburg
Baptist Church.
January 20, 1890 she was united in marriage to
Edwin I. Van De Water. To this union four children were born.
She took an active part in all religious activities of the community,
being president of the W. C. T. U. and superntendent of the
La-Belle Sunday School at the time of her death. It can truly be said
she was a kind and loving companion and mother as well as a friend to
all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband,
one daughter, Mrs. Mary Fogleman, three sons, Howard, Boyce and Willie,
her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Rollins,
one brother, Robert E. Alexander, and four sisters, Mrs. Ida Hodge,
Mrs. Hannah Smedley, Mrs. Sarah Rollins, and Mrs. Susie Tannahill,
four grandchildren and nephews and nieces."

May 12, 1896 Des Moines " Richard Rollins, one of the best known residents of Des Moines,
died at 3:15 yesterday afternoon, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B .H. Corning, 805 Third street,
where he has made his home for some time. Mr. Rollins was 95 years of age, and until he met with
an accident last March was hale and hearty. Since then he has grown feeble, until death came
yesterday. He was conscious to the last and knew his friends and relatives.
The cause of death waa decay of vital forces.
Mr. Rollns was born in Maine in 1S01, and in 1808 came to Iowa, first settling in Fort Dodge,
and in the fall of the same year coming to Des Moines. He was engaged in several lines of business,
but for several years had not been engaged in active business. His wife died fourteen years ago.
He leaves five children, George A. Rollins of Chicago, Mrs. J. R. Rollins. Mrs. B. H. Corning,
J. F. Rollins and H. M. Rollins of Des Moines. Deceased came from a large and prominent family in
New England, but many of them are now dead. Deceased was a member of the Congregational church,
and the funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, at 3 o'clock."

December 5, 1917, Des Moines, Iowa " The funeral of Mrs. Sarah E. Rollins,
who died at the home of her son Richard R. Rollins, 1821 Grand avenue, last night,
will be held privately at her son's home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Mrs. Rollins was 82 years old and had lived in Des Moines since 18?7. She was the wife of the
late John R. Rollins, prominent business man and politician. She was a member of the Plymouth
Congregational church. She is survived by her son, two brothers, J. F. Rollins of Des Moines,
and George Rollins of Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. B. H. Corning of this city."
