Mrs. Mary G. (Dimmitt) Smalley, 70, died about 8 o'clock Tuesday morning at her home, 202 West Cleveland street. She had been ill several weeks. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the Christian church. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery, where the decedent's husband was buried. He died January 15, 1908, exactly twenty-one years ago.
Mrs. Smalley was born in Fulton county, Illinois. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Hays, Stillwater, Mrs. Emma Beahrs, Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Leoda Graham, Coyle; by one son, Clyde Smalley, Stillwater, and eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sisters, the sisters being Mrs. Lizzie Laramore, Guthrie, and Mrs. R.E. Copeland, Ruskin, Fla. Mrs. Smalley was a member of the Christian church."

In 1900 Flagler, Henry W. Brown is a stock raiser, born August 1853 in Illinois, married 19 years to Sarah A. Brown born October 1859 in Missouri, Earl Brown 18 Son, and Nora M. Brown 14 Daughter.

"The first warranty deed filed was a deed from J. B. McGonigal to the trustees of the Congregational Church in Flagler. The trustees were: W. Brown, John W. Hunt and W. Landen. Rev. Meade's residence was presumably in Seibert. The first marriage license was issued to Owen S. Small and Zippora Bryant. Marriage rite performed by Rev. M. R. Meade of Seibert. ,1.**{€{€********** Depot, Pump House and Water Tank, first buildings built in the new town of Flagler, Sept. 1988. of the present Williams Pharmacy Store. (it is possible other locations may have existed). A move much later was made to its present location. Under the name, Flagler, the small community began to grow. Mr. Wm. Schuler established a store where later the Flagler Hotel would be built. He served as postmaster, according to his recollection, following Mr. Lavington. A first frame home was built by Mr. Henry Brown."

"On November 20, 1902 Mr. White bought the hardware store from the late H. W. Brown."

Lulu's mother died in 1942 " Mrs K M Farquhar another of the old time pioneers of the western plains passed away Sunday "t a Denver hospital after a long ill-hes3 She had been in the hospitil there for several months - Mr and Mrs Farquhar were settlers of the western plains in 1819 coming on to Colorado from western Kansas in 1915 They have lived in Flagler and taken an active interest in the town since 1913 when they moved here to make their home Bertha May Farquhar the daughter of Mr and Mrs Kobert S Denny was born in Ottumwa Iowa August 20 1872 and passed away in the hospital at Denver January 18 1942 at the age of 69 years On October 31 1894 she was united in marriage to Rollo M Farquhar at the home of her parents in Guide Rock Nebraska To this union seven children were bom: Mrs Vera Hillencamp Arriba Colorado hits- Lulu Roberts deceased Mn Maine Watters Flagler Mfs! Nina George and Robert both deceased Flora who died in infancy and Clifford Lowell of Flagler Besides her three surviving children she is survived by her husband by eight grandchildren and by one brother Gilbert G Denny of Superior Nebraska She was preceded in death by her parents and by one brother She came with her parents from Iowa to Guide Rock Nebraska in March 1885 and there she spent her girlhood and early married life In the fall of 1899 she and her husband moved to western Kansas by covered wagon and took up a homestead in Thomas county In August 1913 she and her children moved to Stratton Colorado to - join her husband who had come the preceding year They moved to Flagler in the fall of 1916 where she made her home until death When a girl she united with the Methodist Episcopal church remaining a member until coming to Flagler where she transferred her membership to the Congregational church She has been a loyal member and faithful Christian serving at various times as an official of the church and the Ladies’ Aid She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors She was a devoted-wife a loving mother highly esteemed by a host of friends and neighbors who mourn her passing The funeral services were held in the Congregational church Flagler January 21 2 p m and were conducted by the pastor Rev Roy W Thomas The musicians were Mrs Paul Barnett Mr and Mrs Don Smith and Arthur Robb Miss Nellie Sherman was pianist Mrs Barnett sang the solo “Going Home” The pallbearers were Will Borland Dr Reir A - E Creighton Pave Rowden J W Lipford and Delbert Todd Homer Shaw was mortician and burial was in the Flagler cemetery.

EARL AND ANNA

Anna S. Boethin, 32, married Earl Brown, 32, both of Flagler, on 1 Sep 1913 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Witnesses were Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ritter.

" Anna and I saw Flagler born and have seen it grow and it has been a happy experience, a happy life being a part of it. by Roy Bader, deceased deeds that made them known were told and retold around the stage stops. I was born July 30, 1881, and was named Earl Brown. We came to Flagler in '88 after living three years at Brewster, Kansas, and took a homestead, the northeast quarter of section 12, township 9, range 50. My wife Anna, coms for the same reason, to take a homestead, only she came later and alone and I soon changed her nnme which was Boethin to Brown. We were married September 1, 1913. We had two children that did not survive us, as one lived just for a short time and we lost the other in the 'flu epidemic of 1918."

In 1920 the census said Anna was born in Minnesota, in 1930 said in Germany and naturalized.

1955 Broomfield, Colorado "Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brown of Flagler visited at the Leland H. Moore home Sunday. Mr. Brown is an uncle of Mrs. Moore..

1959 Lafayette, Colorado "Mr. and Mrs. Leland H. Moore visited with Mrs. Moore's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brown in Flagler, Colo. Sunday."
