will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, at Harrison. Neb..
Bible Church by Pastor Matt Parker. Cremation has taken place under the direction
of Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington. He died March 2, 2006, at Torrington
Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 4, 1923, in Redwing, Colo., he was the son of Minnie (Baehr) and
Paul Gilbert; was raised and educated in Huerfano County; and graduated from
Colorado A&M University in 1945, with a degree in civil engineering.
He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific as a field artillery officer with
the 7th Infantry Division during World War II; and was released from active duty
in 1946, after serving for a year with the occupation troops in South Korea.
In 1968, he married Kathleen Eberspecher Hilder-brand in Rawlins.
He was employed by the Department of Agriculture and Soil Conservation Service
for 34 years and was project engineer on Cloud Peak, Willow Park, Kearney Lake,
and the original Cross Creek and Dull Knife reservoir."
