"He married his first wife, Alice Enfield Jordan Smith in Breckinridge, Kentucky 21 September 1882. They had three daughters who survived infancy, Gertrude, Mary and Cora. Gertrude and Mary passed away prior to 1905 and Alice died in 1907.
The 1910 census shows Basil and Cora living in Seibert, Colorado. On 20 April 1910 Cora married Fred Matz.
Basil Franklin Smith married Nannie W. Arbuckle on 10 December 1914 in Hugo, Lincoln County, Colorado.
A 1925 Kansas census shows them living in Weir, Kansas.
His daughter Cora passed away 18 October 1985 in San Diego County, California"
