James claimed 200 acres in section 34, 9S 50W in 1914.

Possibly he's the James F. Smith in Lincoln County, Colorado in 1910, 32, single, born in N"York State",m both parents born in York State, living alone next to the Ray and Andy Roberts families.

Possibly
"James F. Smith came to Leadville in 1880, engaged in mining and surveying, was now county clerk. J. S. Smith came to Colorado, 1882, becoming a school teacher at Fairplay and county superintendent of schools."
