May 1905 Omaha "The smile and applause of a crowded house at the Boyd last night proved that thirty years have not dimmed the charm of the old time comic opera, "Pinafore." After long oblivion it comes up fresh and sparkling as when it first enchanted American audiences in the late '70s. Seventy-five of Omaha's amateurs presented the piece under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus for the benefit of St. James orphanage and the Home of the Good Shepherd. The immensity of the spectacle glvea some idea of the labor involved in staging the production. For week the rehearsals have been going on under the direction of Edward Norman Kent, and it Is much to his credit that "Pinafore" met with such a popular reception. The seats had all been old long before the day for the presentation were sold for the gallery until last night and it was used to hold the overflow, which turned out to be of such proportion that that part of the theater was as full as the parquet or balcony. "

February 24, 1949 Tampa, Florida " Henry E. Johnson, 74, 824 S. Orleans Ave., a resident of Tampa for the last eight years, died this morning in a Tampa hospital. Before retiring he had served 50 years with the Pennsylvania Railroad as a livestock agent. A volunteer worker with the Ration Board here for three years during the war, Mr. Johnson was vice president of the Tampa Tourist Club, and secretary treasurer of the Gyro Club of Tampa. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alada Johnson, Tampa: two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Koeing, Tampa, Mrs. Emma Cason, Chicago, and a brother, William Johnson, Park Ridge, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at B. Marion Reed Funeral Home."

Mrs. Julia Burger, 89, 3006 Ferdinand Ave., died yesterday morning at her residence. A former resident of Iowa, Mrs. Burger had lived in Tampa for 15 years and was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Floy Parker. Tampa: a son, Albert Burger, Jefferson, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Alada Johnson, St. Petersburg; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren."


February 17, 1968 Tampa, Florida " Funeral services for Mrs. Alada Johnson, age 87, 3006 Ferdinand Ave., will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at CURRY'S FUNERAL HOME, 605 S. MacDill Ave. Interment will follow In Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by a niece, Mrs. Floy M. Parker of Tampa."

"Peter Johnson was born in Sweden in 1840, and lived to the age of 85 years, 3 months, 17 days, passing away on August 17, 1925. He came to this country in early boyhood, the greatest part of which he spent in Illinois.
It was here when his country's call came in the early sixties, that he enlisted in Co. M of 4th Illinois Cavalry, and was in the Army of the Tennessee in the engagements at Shiloh, Fort Donalson, Vicksburg, and other great battles. He was a member of Matthew Gray Post No. 93 G.A.R. and served as color bearer in that organization for a number of years. He was a Civil War Veteran.
In 1867, he married Emma Christopher who preceded him in death in 1908. He leaves to mourn his loss 4 daughters, Emily Johnson of Dayton; Mrs. Julia Burger and Mrs. V. O. Bell of Ida Grove, Iowa; and Mrs. Henry Johnson of Chicago. Two other children, Edna and Eddie, preceded him many years ago.
There are 3 grandchildren, Mrs. Floy Burger Parker, Albert Burger, and Ruth Bell.
He was a kind and home loving man and spent his last years with his daughter, Mrs. Burger, who spared nothing for his care and comfort.
Funeral services were held August 19, 1925, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Burger, and at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in charge of Rev. C. A. Van Griethuysen. Members of the American Legion served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery."
