1891. The right-of-way for the Chi., R.I. and Colo. Railroad issued in 1875 went through that section.

Byron L. Houtz married Lillian A. Harison on August 15, 1891 in Norfolk, Virginia.

and W. C. Gates of Bucyrus, Ohio, were in the city from last Saturday
until Monday. They are all stockholders in the Big Five Corporation
and the object of their visit was to investigate conditions in this
big proposition. It is their desire to see the Belman lateral
driven under the Dove's Nest and then an upraise made.
They were so pleased with the weather and climate and they left
with much reluctance. They had been attending the Knights
Templar Conclave."

"Byron Lohr Houtz, aged 73, son of Jacob and Lydia Lohr Houtz, died at a local hospital yesterday at 6:10 p.m. He was a native of Adamsburg, Snyder County, Pa., and for the past 50 years had resided in Norfolk, during which time and until his recent retirement, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Mr. Houtz was a member of the Freemason Street Baptist Church and Norfolk Lodge No. 1, A.F. & A.M., and resided at 46 A-View avenue, Ocean View. He is survived by one brother, Orrin V. Houtz, of Berwick, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. H. H. Foster, of Norfolk, and Miss Nell Houtz, of Baltimore, and several nieces and nephews."
