Benjamin H. and Etta (Hagar) Young , Flagler



In 1870 Jones County, Iowa, N. R. "Hager" is 46, Hannah 44, Milo M. 16, Mary 14, Ida 12, Phebe 10, Rosa 5, Freddie 8, and Ella 2.

Etta was in Jones County in 1880, 8, with Noble Hagar 55 a farmer, and Hannah 53. Theda A. is 20, a teacher, Rosa J. 14, Ella11, and ESTHER M. 8.
"Noble R. Hagar, farmer, Sec 19; P O Oxford Mills, was born in Bradford Co., PA in 1824 and came to Jones Co at an early day and bought eighty acres, and at the present time owns 500 acres, and has made all the improvements built a fine house and barn and good fences. His wife, Hannah E. Terrell, was born in Bradford Co., PA in 1827; they were married in 1852; have eight children, seven living -- Milo M., Mary E. (now Mrs. Drake), Ida M. (now Mrs. Hammond), Theda A., Rosa J., Ellen M., Esther M.: Frederick M. died Sept. 21, 1878. Mr. Hammond has held the offices of School Director and Superintendent. Politics, Republican; religion, Wesleyan Methodist. "

Ella had married Edgar Hammond, and both families were in Kit Carson County in 1910.

Noble is buried in Cedar County 1824-1899 # 41130840, with Hannah Esther (Terrill) Hagar 1824-1887 # 41130839.

"Mr. John H. Young, an old and highly respected resident of this city, died at the home of his son, Ed Young, in west Chariton on Christmas morning, December 25, 1910, at 2:20 o'clock, after an illness of only a few days with typhoid pneumonia and seepage of the heart.
Funeral services, under the auspices of the Masonic order, and conducted by Rev. W. G. Hohanshelt, were held at the M. E. church on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery.
John H. Young was born in Camden, Preble county, Ohio, on December 30, 1841. In October, 1851 he moved to Fairfield, Iowa. He was married on May 1, 1867, to Georgiann Goodrich, who died on April 18, 1896. To them were born six children, three of whom are living. They are Benjamin F. and Frederick B., of St. Joe, Mo., and Edwin, of this city.
Mr. Young enlisted in the Civil War in 1862 and served three years as a sergeant.
In 1881 he moved to Lucas, Iowa, and engaged in the hardware business. In 1890 the family came to Chariton. Mr. Young was a member of the Masonic order and the Grand Army of the Republic. He had also been a faithful member of the M. E. church and the Men's League and attended services regularly until his health failed."

Etta M. Hagan, 20, married Bennie H. Young on January 27, 1892 in Clarence, Jones County, Iowa.

In 1900 Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Etta is married to Benjamin H. Young, a grocer, born April 1869 in Missouri, Etta M. October 1871 in Iowa, Harold V. April 1893 and Fay A. May 1895.

In 1910 Kit Carson County, Etta M. is 34, married to Benjamin H. Young 40 born in New York, a farmer. Harold V. is 17, Jay A. 15, both born in Iowa.

Benjamin H. Young claimed a quarter in section 4, 9S 51W in 1911.

Lorraine H. Young, male, was born in San Bernardiono County on September 11, 1913.

In 1920 Ontario California, Benjamin is a candy maker, 52, born in New York, Etta 48, Harold V. 28, Fay 24, and Lorraine, a son, 6.

In 1930 Inglewood, California, Benjamin is 62, Etta 58, Lorraine H. 16, and Harold D. 36.

Benjamin 62, Etta 58, and Lorrie 26, a stock clerk, are in Inglewood, California in 1940. They were in Ontario, California in 1935.

Etta Mabel Young, born October 7, 1871, died in Los Angeles County September 30, 1947.

Benjamin H. Young, born April 23, 1867 in New York, mother Cullen, died March 25, 1955 in San Bernardino County.

HAROLD

Edna M. Benning was in Rawlins County, Kansas in 1910, 16, with George 53, Mary L. 45, Alma 25, Edna 16, Viola 14, John 12, Gladis 10, and Dortha 3.
George James Binning 1856-1916 is buried in Long Beach # 71o62199.
" George married Mary L. Vennum; a daughter of Thomas J. Vennum and his wife, Lurinda J. Schmidt. George and Mary celebrated their wedding in Iroquois County, Illinois on January 1, 1882. They had ten children; three sons and seven daughters."

In 1940 Los Angeles, Harold is a surgical nurse, 47, married to Edna M. 46, born in Kansas.

Harold Vernon Young 1893-1970 is buried in Cypress, California # 94558165.
So is Edna Mary Young 1894-1977.

FAY

In 1930 Redlands, California, Fay is married to Lavera, 32, born in Kansas.

In 1940 Fay is a clerk 45, married to Lanera 43.
He registered for WWII in Redlands, working for the Santa Fe Railway freight department, born in Oxford Junction Mary 5, 1895.


Fay A. Young, 67, and Florence L. Matthews married in San Bernardino County on December 11, 1962.

Fay Alden Young 1895-1985 is buried in Redlands, California # 30107453.
So is LaVera Young 1897-1960. Her father Dennis B. Cotter 1862-1928 is also buried in Redlands # 23780556.
So is her mother Mary Elizabeth Watkins Cotter 1865-1947 # 23780563..
