Joseph Ayers Smith was born March 10, 1884 in Newton, Jasper County, Iowa to Joseph Smith and Margaret Isabell Doherty.
In 1895 Norton County, Kansas, Joseph Smith is 49,

In 1900 Norton County, Kansas, Joseph A. born March 1884 in Iowa, is with Joseph Jan 1846 Illinois and Margaret Sept 1850 Ohio. Henryetta 22 was born in Iowa, and Omer 13 in Kansas.
Daughter Ida B. Wiley is 18.

March 22, 1917 Norton Kansas "Kate F. Mather, daughter of R A. Mather,
was born in Norton county, Kansas, October 1884. She grew to womanhood
and received her education in this vicinity. For several years she was one
of Norton county's successful teachers. On April 5, 1905 she was united
in marriage to J. A. Smith, who likewise was a native son of Norton county.
After two years residence in Kansas, they moved to Colorado where they
made their home for seven years; they have made their residence in
Beatrice, Nebraska for the past three years.
For more than a year the deceased has been in failing health.
Death claimed her March 13, 1917, at the age of thirty-two years,
four months and seventeen days.
The departed leaves a husband, father, two sisters,
many other relatives, besides a large circle of acquaintances to
cherish her memory. One sister, Mrs. Daisy Hull, resides in California
and is in a critical condition of health. The relatives present at
the funeral were the sister, Mrs. J. D. Anderson and husbard of
Belleville, Kansas, Mrs. Minnie Ferguson of Colorado Springs,
and an uncle, J. D. Norman and wife, son and daughter of
Beatrice, Nebraska. One year ago Easter Sunday Mrs. Smith entered the
Christ life. Hence she passed from this life not only a faithful and
loving wife but also in the joy of her Lord.
The funeral services were held at the Christian church in Norton
on Friday afternoon, Mr. Stover, minister of the church conducting
the services. The male choir of the church furnished the music.
Interment was made in the Norton cemetery."

in Newton Iowa. The nearest relative was Mrs. Ida Stover, Dinsmore, Kansas.
He might be in Montana in 1930 and 1940, single.
Joseph A. Smith died in East Ely, Nevbada on January 7, 1954. He was a widower to be buried in the Ely cemetery, and the informant was James R. Smith.

Henrietta Smith Cooper 1878-1942 is buried in Wray # 17095997, with Albert 1882-1963.
"Mrs. Henrietta Cooper, a resident ot Wray for the past two years,
died Friday, January 23. She had been in poor health for some time and
for the past two weeks was confined to her bed as the result of a
paralytic stroke trom which she failed to recover.
Funeral services were held at the Hitchcock Mortuary Monday afternoon
at 2 o'clock, conducted by Kev. Harold McKellips and burial was in
Grandview cemetery.
The deceased was born June 18, 1878, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smith at
Newton, Jasper County, lowa, and was 63 years, seven months and five days
old at the time of her death. She spent most of her early life at Norton,
Kansas, where she was married, on November 9, 1902, to
Albert Lee Roy Cooper.
Five children were born to the couple, all of whom reside at Wray.
They are Albert, Jr., David, Amos, Otis and Mrs. Alma Andrews.
The family moved to Wray in 1929. Mrs. Cooper recently accepted the
faith of the Nazarene church at Wray and was a loyal member.
Besides her children, she is survived by her mother, one sister,
three brothers, nine grandchildren and many less near relatives."
