Robert O. and Nina Klass, 8 South 51 West


Robert was born January 13, 1881 in Washington, Iowa to Martin Klass and Charlotte Kientz.

In 1885 Washington County, Iowa, Martin is 48, Charlotte M. 39, Clara 18, Cordelia 15, Minnie 11, Fred 9, Walter 6, and ROBBIE 4.

Charlotte is widowed in 1900 Washington County, 54, with Cornelia 30, Minnie 26, Robert O. 20, and Max M. 13.

Charlotte "Kloss" is in Chicago in 1910, 64, and with her are Fred C. 35, Walter W. 32, his wife Hattie M. 25 born in Illinois, Max M. 24 a salesman, and Cornelia A. 21 a school teacher.

Clara Klass, 25, married Am Miksch on December 31, 1891 in Washington County.

She's buried in Orange County, California 1867-1947 # 141445565, with Amadeas Miksch 1856-1939.

Walter W. Klass 1878-1943 is buried in Cook County, Illinois # 114917037.

NINA'S FAMILY

In 1880 Atlantic, Cass County, Iowa, J. Nancarrow is 49 born in England, Susan C. 37 in New York. Rosa 22, Violetta 6, Martha 4, and Clara P. 1.

Susan is buried in Cass County # 160576933.
"Mrs. Susan Catherine Nancarrow, for many years a resident of this city and for the last several years a resident of Exira, died yesterday at her home in that city, at the age of 69 years, two months and seven days. Death was the result of a complication of troubles, which had their origin in an attack of neutritis some months ago and from which she recovered, but which left her in a weakened condition. Mrs. Nancarrow was well known here and the news of her death was learned locally with regret.
Susan Catherine Barnes was born in Oneida county, New York, December 16th, 1843, and moved with her parents to Plessis, Jefferson county, New York, when two years old. She was married to James Nancarrow, of Alexandria, N. Y., September 6th, 1870, by the Rev. H. O. Tilden. To this union seven children were born, five of whom survive her. In 1871 she removed with her husband to Prophetstown, Illinois, and from there, in 1876, to this city, where her husband was engaged in the tailoring business until 1889, when he died. She resided in Atlantic until 1907 when she moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, with her son. From there, in 1909, she moved to Exira, Iowa, where she has since resided.
The children who survive her are: Mrs. Geo. H. Baker of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Robert O. Klass, Seibert, Colorado; Mrs. Edwin M. Abbott, Ethan, S. D.; Gerald A. Nancarrow of Davenport, Iowa, and Richard G. Nancarrow, of Exira, with whom she has made her home since leaving Atlantic. Two stepdaughters, Mrs. Austin Cole, Avoca, Iowa, and Mrs. Horace Cadwallader, Ottumwa, Iowa, also survive her. Besides these, fifteen grandchildren are left to mourn her.
She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Exira and of the Order of the Eastern Star.
The funeral services are to be held at Exira tomorrow and the remains brought here at two o'clock for interment."

Penninah Nancarrow, 18, daughter of James Nancarrow and Susan C. Barnes, married Nelse P. Nelson on May 27, 1893 in Cass County, Iowa.

"Nels P. Nelson was born at Hjoring, Denmark on the 17th day of September, 1871. He was one of a family of seven children, five brothers and two sisters, all of whom are in the old country.
He came to the United States in the year 1890, stopping in various places, but settling at length in Atlantic. Here on the 27th day of May, 1898, he was married to Miss Nina Nancarrow by the Rev. David Shenton. As a result of this union three children were born, Victor aged 12, Kenneth aged 9 and Norman aged 6, all of whom with their mother survive and mourn their loss.
Mr. Nelson's illness began almost five years ago, and although all was done for him that love and skill could do he continued gradually to fail until death brought release from his suffering. He died at the Clarinda hospital at 8:20 Tuesday morning, April 17, 1906, aged 34 years, 9 months. He was a member of the fraternal order of the Modern Woodmen of America, under whose auspices the interment was made. He was also a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, holding his membership at the time he was taken ill, in Broadway church, Council Bluffs, and from which it was never removed. "


ROBERT AND NINA

Robert claimed a quarter in section 23, 8S 51W in 1908.

In 1910 Robert is station agent in Seibert, 28, married three years to Nina 32 born in Illinois. Her sons Victor Nelson 16, Kenneth Nelson 14, and Norman Nelson 9, all born in Iowa.
Norman was born October 19, 1899 in Atlantic Iowa to Nels Peter Nelson and Pen Nina Nancarrow.

1910 Burlington "Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Klass of Seibert were Burlington visitors Thursday. Mr. Klass, who is the Rock Island agent at Watkins, is a familiar Iowa boy and an old friend of the editor."

1913

September 1914 Selden, Kansas "Mrs. R. O. Klass, wife of our new agent, and son, have arrived from Seibert, Colorado and are unloading their household goods in the living rooms at the depot. We are glad to welcome these new people to our town. "

In 1914 the Railroad Telegrapher wrote "Bro. Dodge on third Selden temporarily, and Sister Klass on second Selden, while Bro. Klass is bossing."

In 1915 Sheridan County, R. O. Klass is 33, M. 30, V. L. 21, M.K. 17, and M.W. 15.

Robert Otto Klass is the station agent for the Rock Island in Selden, Sheridan County, Kansas, born January 13, 1881, when registering for WWI. His reference was Nina N. Klass of Selden.

In 1915 Sheridan County, R. O. Klass is 33, M. 30, V. L. 21, M.K. 17, and M.W. 15.
They're in Selden in the 1920 and 1930 census pages. In 1920 Norman M. Klass, 20, is with them.

July 1929 Sheridan County "Due to an infected foot agent Klass is forced to be off duty at the depot."

Nina is buried in Selden 1876-1935 # 81010361.

"Nina Nancarrow, daughter of James and Susan Nancarrow, was born at Prophetstown, Illinois, January 27, 1876.
When she was six months of age her parents moved to Atlantic, Iowa. There she spent her girlhood and received her education.
She was united in marriage with Nelse Peter Nelson on May 27th, 1893. To this union three sons were born: Victor Leone, Portland, Ore.; Nelse Kenneth and Norman Waldemir, both of Topeka, Kansas.
Mr. Nelson passed away in Council Bluffs, Iowa, April 17, 1906.
Mrs. Nelson moved with her three children to her old home town of Atlantic, Iowa, and there made a home for herself and her children. She worked as manager of the Western Union at Atlantic.
On August 29th, 1907, she was united in marriage to Robert Otto Klass.
Shortly after this, Mr. and Mrs. Klass moved to Seibert, Colorado, where Mr. Klass was agent for the C. R. I. and P. Railroad. They resided in Seibert for about seven years. They moved from Seibert to Selden, Kansas, September 1, 1914, and have resided in Selden since that time.
Mrs. Klass passed from this life, Sunday evening, December 15th, 1935, at her home here.
Mrs. Klass was a member of the Methodist Church of Selden; a member of the Ladies Aid Society of that church, and a member of the Selden chapter of the Eastern Star.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, three sons, two sisters, two brothers and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Klass will be missed by her many friends here with whom she has lived for so many long years.
Funeral services were held at the Selden Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, December 19th, 1935, and interment made in the Selden Cemetery."

Robert is buried in Selden 1887-1947 # 81010362.

Victor Nelson is buried in Portland, Oregon # 98311900.
"Funeral for Victor L. Nelson will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Finley’s Rose Chapel with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
Mr. Nelson, a commercial artist, lithographer and teacher, died in his home Friday at age 79.
Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Feb. 17, 1894, he moved to Portland in 1921.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Nelson, and son, Paul, both of Portland; brothers, Kenneth and Norman, both of Kansas and two grandchildren."

Nelse Nelson is buired in Topeka, Kansas # 121180482.
"Nelse K. Nelson, 86, 315 Rolyan Road, died late Wednesday at a Topeka hospital.
He was born Jan. 9, 1897, at Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Nelse Peter and Nina Noncaro Nelson. He moved from Clay Center to Topeka in 1920.
Mr. Nelson was state agent for Great American Fire Insurance Co. He retired in 1963 after 43 years of service.
He was a member of Northland Christian Church. He also was a member of Orient Lodge No.51, AF&AM, Scottish Rite bodies and York Rite bodies. He was a member and past potentate of Arab Shrine, and a member of Royal Order of Jesters, Media Grotto, De Molay Knights of Arab Shrine and High Twelve Club. He was a member of Most Loyal Order of Blue Goose and Insurance Department Consumer Committee.
He was married to Alma I. Wingrove Aug. 12, 1917. She survives.

Norman Nelson is buried in Topeka # 90192252.
"Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka for Norman Waldemir Nelson Sr., 87, Meade, formerly of Topeka. He died July 7, 1987, at a Meade hospital.
Mr. Nelson was a resident engineer for the Kansas Highway Department before he retired. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served with the Seabees in the South Pacific.
He was born Oct. 19, 1899, at Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Nels Peter and Pen-Nina Nancarrow Nelson. He lived at Lone Tree Lodge in Meade since 1984 and formerly lived in Liberal.
Mr. Nelson was a member of the United Methodist Church and Fargo Lodge No. 300, AF&AM, at Liberal.
He was married to Lois Fern Trimble May 9, 1920, at Selden. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Wava L. Ninemires, Mission; a son, Norman W. Nelson Jr., Norman, Okla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren."
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nina D. Wadley, Anthony, N.M., as son Robert K. Nelson, Security, Colo., a brother, Norman Nelson, Liberal, six grandsons, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Northland Christian Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. "
