Helen M. "Ellen" Hawley Atwood born 8 Oct 1846 in Sheffield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, died 4 Oct 1920 in Woodstock, Windsor County, Vermont, Burial Prosper Cemetery Woodstock, Windsor County, Vermont, Memorial ID # 195277444

On October 1, 1852, she married Nathan C. Burdick II. Their children were Anna Maria (Aaron Mundorff, Bierce E. Kennedy), Bertha Albertina (John L. Roberts), Minnie May (Joseph H. Axe) and Nathan C. (Mae E. Smith) Burdick. In 1884, she divorced Nathan. The newspaper advertisement indicates that he'd abandoned her over a year earlier. On June 26, 1884, she married Daniel Newcomb. He died in 1893.
(In 1900, Helen M. Newcomb is 56, son Nathan C. Burdick born November 1874 in Iowa, in Council Grove, Kansas.) On September 13, 1905 in Boise, Idaho she married Wililam H. Gillian. They divorced two years later. On October 10, 1909 in Boise, she married George W. Curl. He died in 1913. In 1914, she resumed correspondence with her old Kansas neighbor Parker Atwood who had returned to his hometown in Vermont. In October of that year, she moved there to marry him. She died there in 1920.

March 1908 Salina, Kansas "Salina is ringing with a number of sensations which are keeping the newspapers busy and the tongues of gossips wagging. Principal among these is the warrant sworn out by Elmer Henry against Nathan Burdick, charging him with criminal intimacy with his wife. Mrs Henry came back with a sensational story, accusing her husband of an attempt to blackmail and the whole affair was a plot. She also states that the marshal and policeman present swore falsely and were paid to do so. Burdick has skipped. Another sensation was sprung when it was learned that Elmer Henry sent a letter through the mail to Nate Burdick, demanding $1,000 to quiet the case. Henry has now disappeared. "

January 1908 Council Grove "Mrs. Joe Axe and son, Leonard, returned from Salina Sunday where they have been visiting the past week with her brother, Nate Burdick."

Mae's family was in Oceana County, Michigan in 1880.

In 1910 Salina, Nate is 35, May E. 28, Nellie 7, Kathryn 5, and Richard G. 2.

He's a grocery salesman in Weiser, Washington County, Idaho in 1920, 41, with mae 38, Nell 17, Katheryn 14, and Richard 12.

In 1930 Boise, Idaho, May E. is 48, married but no spouse, living with son Richard G. 22.

Mae is in Boise in 1940, living alone, married, 59.

Mae E. Burdick 1881-1944 is buried in Boise, Idaho # 61693460.
Her father was Nathan Smith, mother's maiden name O'Neill. The informant was Mrs. G. H. Shallman of 312 Ivy in Boise.

Richard Burdick, 75, died Sunday, April 24, 1983 in a Reno hospital. A native of Salina, Kan., he was born Dec. 27, 1907. Burdick was employed as a purchasing agent with Madison Knudson Company. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Boise, Idaho, for 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his widow, Frances and daughter, Francie Harkenrider, both of Reno; sisters, Kathryn Shallman of Boise and Nell Christiansen of Mesa, Ariz. ; and one grandson. No funeral is scheduled. Inurnment was held at Masonic Memorial Gardens under the direction of Ross, Burke & Knobel Mortuary.

May 10, 2014 Boise " Floyd Richard Christiansen 1923-2014 Richard was born at the home of his paternal grandparents on March 30, 1923 in Ontario, Oregon. His parents were Nell Carmen (Burdick) and Floyd Magnus Christiansen."
