In 1880 Marshall County, Iowa, Amos G. Ingersoll is farming, 46, with Susan M. Ingersoll 44, Charles A. Ingersoll 23, Ellen E. Ingersoll 18, John A. Ingersoll 15, Reuben M. (Ruby) Ingersoll 14, Hattie Ingersoll 12, Albert M. Ingersoll 10, Lydia G. Ingersoll 8, Freddie W. Ingersoll 7, Miriam A. Ingersoll 6, and Elnora G. Ingersoll 3.

1898 Humeston, Iowa "Levi Williams has sold his farm, ?0 acres to A. G. Ingersoll, of Marshall county, Iowa, and forty acres to E. S. Evans. Mr. Ingersoll will move here and take possession October 1st. "

" Mrs. Susan M. Ingersoll was born in Lewis county, New York, Sept. 1, 1836 and died in Humeston, Iowa, May 1, 1901, of consumption, after a lingering illness of seven and a half months.
Miss Susan M. Decker was married to Amos G. Ingersoll in 1856, and to them were born eleven children, all but one of whom, Edwin H., who died in young manhood, survive her.
Mr. Ingersoll and family came to Marshall county in 1865 and settled on a farm one mile west of Gilman, and with the exception of a couple of years spent in Louisiana, up to about three years ago, when they removed to a farm near Humeston, their home has been in this immediate vicinity.
Mrs. Ingersoll and her husband were charter members of the Congregational church in this place.
The funeral services were held at the Congregational church on Friday at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. R.F. Lavender, of Newton, her former pastor, assisted by Rev. C.L. Hammond, and her remains were laid at rest in Prairie View cemetery, beside her son."

In 1910 Kit Carson County, Amos is farming, 76, widowed, born in New York, living alone.

Amos claimed 160 acres in section 17, 8S 50W in 1912.

He's in Ames, Iowa in 1920, 85, with daughter Ruby I. Stewart 53 and her husband Thomas J. 66, son C. Gail Stewart 23.

Amos is buried in Marshall County, Iowa 1834-1922, dying in Ames, Iowa, per # 154548844.

Children

Charles Avery Ingersoll 1854–1939 married Ida May Smith in 1899, and died July 11, 1939 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, buired in Butte County, South Dakota # 92747511. Ida 1868-1928 died in Portland Oregon.

When Vivian died, the obituary didn't mention her father - Charles was with a daughter in Belle Fourche in 1930...

Elnora Gertrude Ingersoll Evans 1877–1904, married Melvin J. Evans on Feb 11, 193 in Marshall County, Iowa.
Marshalltown, Iowa, October 8, 1904 "N.B. Meade went to Gilman Friday evening, having received a telegram from his wife, who has been at Humeston, announcing the death of her sister, Mrs. Gertrude Ingersoll Evans, which occurred Friday morning.

Mrs. Evans had been ill about six weeks, of quick consumption, and her death has been expected for the past two weeks. The body was sent to Gilman, where it arrived today, and the funeral will be conducted from the Congregational Church there on Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. T.J. Stewart, of this city, a sister of Mrs. Evans, also went to Gilman Friday evening to attend the funeral.

Mrs. Evans was a former Gilman girl, and at one time resided in this city. She was 24 years of age, and had been married only a little over a year. She leaves besides her husband, who is the Republican nominee of Wayne County for Recorder, her father, Amos Ingersoll, of Ellston; Mrs. Meade and Mrs. Stewart of this city, and Mrs. C.E. Ramsey of Gilman, sisters; Burt Ingersoll of Gilman, Fred Ingersoll of Tama, and John Ingersoll of Crookston, Minnesota, brothers.

Miriam A. Ingersoll, 29, married James William Howe on Nov 16, 1904 in Tama County, Iowa.
They're in Sioux City, Iowa in 1940, James 62 and Miriam 64.
