The manifest shows Abraham visiting Emil Dickten, son, at the corner of Clair and Schools in Paterson, NJ. A sister is listed as A. Weinmann in Paterson, NJ. I would love to hear from anyone who has an association with any of the people listed above. I have been told that one of his relatives worked for the German-American Shipping lines, however, I have been unable to find anything on that shipping line. He died at the age of 36 years and 1 day. Eldora Gregory, 97 yrs. old of New Berlin, NY passed away on October 7, 2014 at the Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center where she had resided for the past six months. Eldora Elma Weinman Gregory was born on March 6, 1917 to Walter and Elma Tewell Weinman in Seibert, Colorado where they were homesteaders. Eldora's family moved to New Berlin in 1930 and settled on Shacktown Mtn. The girls attended the one room school for a couple of years. They then moved to the Morris Turnpike and went to the Hoboken School. Eldora had to walk or ride the milk truck to New Berlin to attend high school where she graduated in 1936, second in her class! She went to nursing school at Binghamton City hospital for 1 year but quit as she was lonesome for the farm. Eldora married Stephen D. Gregory, a former classmate, in 1938. She was a housewife and helper on the farm which she enjoyed very much. Five sons were born to Stephen and Eldora; Gerald (Helen) of Mt. Upton, Delbert (Kathy) of Belen, New Mexico, Ray (Linda) of Norwich, Herbert (Sandy) of Homer and Everett (Victoria) of Pittsfield. Stephen passed away in 1983. She is also survived by a sister; Lillian Holl, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister; Ada Tallman and brothers-in-law; Ray Tallman and Paul Holl . Eldora lived in Chase Apartments in New Berlin for nearly 30 years. She worked for Chase Nursing Home for over 10 years and kept busy knitting, volunteering and baking cookies. Eldora wrote this obituary about 10 years ago! She was a "take charge lady". We will miss you Mom! A memorial service for Eldora will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin, NY with her granddaughter the Reverend Amy Gregory, officiating. There will be a time to greet the family from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin or the Pittsfield Fire Department. ------------------------------------------------------------------- DECATUR, NY - Ada W. Tallman, 82, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta. She was born April 14, 1921, in Yellow Jacket, Colo., the daughter of Walter and Elma (Tewell) Weinmann. Her family moved to New Berlin in 1930, where she graduated from New Berlin Central School in 1939. Ada married Raymond L. Tallman on April 25, 1942, in Edmeston. She has been a resident of Worcester since 1959, after her husband's retirement from the US Army. She and her family lived in 12 states and 14 Army Posts, including three years in Tokyo, Japan, and three years in the Panama Canal Zone. Ada was a motor vehicle clerk for Otsego County. She worked in the Oneonta office from 1960 to 1983. She was a member of the Worcester American Legion Post 1584 Auxiliary since 1960, where she held most offices; the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 138, Schenevus, since 1961, serving as Worthy Matron in 1980, 1986 and 1987, also District Deputy Grand Matron, Otsego Schoharie District in 1988; a life and charter member of the Schenevus VFW Post 592 Auxiliary, and a member of the Board of Elections in Decatur for a number of years. She loved her family, gardening, bird watching, sewing of all sorts, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Survivors include her husband, Raymond L. Tallman Sr., of Decatur; her children, Elizabeth T. DeMartino of Marietta, Ga., Barbara J. Tallman of Phoenix, Ariz., and Raymond L. Jr. and Linda Tallman of Richmondville; grandchildren, Robert D. DeMartino, Sean R. and Jennifer DeMartino, Todd A. DeMartino, Jennifer A. Geerken and Rebecca L. Tallman; great-grandchildren, Connor and Mason DeMartino; two sisters, Eldora Gregory and Lillian Holl, both of New Berlin; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester. The American Legion Auxiliary service will start at 8 p.m. followed by the Order of the Eastern Star Service. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 8, at the Worcester United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jane Pykus, pastor officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester. Contributions may be made to the Worcester Cub Scouts, Pack 19, care of Janette Gardner, 1095 Smith Road, Worcester, NY 12197.
