Wolcott, New York 1900 "One of those terrible crimes perpetrated by brutes that all too frequently stain the history of our country was committed near Limon, Colo., home of Charles Wamsley, formerly of Wolcott. Louise Frost, 12, daughter of a wealthy rancher, was missing. Wamsley headed the search and was the first to find the girl, who had been criminally assaulted and murdered.
Immediately a Vigilantes Committee was organized and the murderer, John Porter, was captured. He confessed coolly and offered no excuses. A throng of men took the man from the custody of the sheriff and burned him alive at the stake, the father of the girl touching off the blaze.

In 1960 the Wolcott, New York newspaper reported Mrs. Stanley Roney (Mrs. Rachel Roney) and her six-year-old granddaughter Vickie Doughlas, ... while visiting at the home of Mrs. Linnie Wamsley, formerly of Wolcott, in Denver Colorado ..were robbed by a sneak thief.

1909 Wolcott, New York "The many friends of Henry Wood, Dutchess County, will be pained to hear of his death, which occurred Jan 5. Interment was in Pleasant Valley. His wife, who survivies, is a cousin of Mrs. Albert Wamsley, of this village."
