John C. and Mattie (Stephenson) McPherson, 8 South 49 West
Robert was in the Isle of Pines in 1918.... HELEN McPHERSON UNDERWOOD, wife of Samuel G. Underwood, 837 Fourth Avenue, Council Bluffs, died at 8 o'clock a.m., January 10, 1918, aged 80 years 6 months. She was born at Port Glasgow on the Clyde, Scotland, and came to this country with her parents and to Council Bluffs in May of 1851, having lived in Pottawattamie County ever since. She was married to Samuel G. Underwood in March of 1856 at Council Bluffs. She leaving surviving her five sons and three daughters: William Underwood, Council Bluffs; Mrs. Edward Benton, Council Bluffs; Miss Annie Underwood, Council Bluffs; John Underwood, McClelland; S.G. Underwood, Jr., Council Bluffs; Mrs. William Lewis, Council Bluffs; Herbert Underwood, Dumfries; Fay L. Underwood, Council Bluffs. She leaves also fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; also two brothers, Robert McPherson of the Isle of Pines, West Indies; Joseph R. McPherson of Council Bluffs, Iowa. The funeral will be held at the family residence on Sunday, January 13, 1918 at 2 o'clock. The Rev. George A. Ray of the Second Presbyterian Church will conduct the services. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery. |
