January 1922 "When the official census gave Otis a population of 467, there were many people in that thriving little city who did not accept the government report as final. Walter Tecker and Frank Wood, two enterprising citizens of that town, made a thorough canvass to determine just how many people live in Otis. When they had completed their task they discovered that Otis actually had a population of 707. Otis has made more rapid strides the past year than most other towns in eastern Colorado. There is more building on now than in other towns along the Burlington. Several years ago Otis was little more than a watering place for fast Burlington trains. Now it is a busy, healthy little town of 707 souls.
