VIRGINIA

Virginia Virdin was born on March 16, 1927 in Mancos, Colorado to Arthur Durham & Elsa Reim and died peacefully in her sleep on May 6, 2014 in Plano, Texas.

She knew Jesus as her Savior & Lord and is with Him now. Ginny to many (and mom to us) loved school, especially English literature & grammar, which explains her gentle correction to anyone playing loose with proper English. She played the clarinet, was active in numerous clubs, and graduated with honors. Virginia almost drowned (which lead to an extreme fear of water) yet somehow threw on a lifejacket, climbed aboard the boat, and encouraged her family/friends at water sports. She was an incredible cook and loved to share the fruits of her labors along with favorite recipes. She was a devoted Dallas Mavericks fan (so much so that Dad labeled himself a Mavs widower) and was thrilled that her loyalty was rewarded with a title in 2011. She loved games, especially bridge, and belonged to a number of clubs in Richardson and Malakoff. Amazingly, she could play and win at cards even when it became difficult for her to remember other things. She loved crafts & gardening, and excelled at both. She loved reading including book clubs & reviews. She worked hard as an executive assistant, office manager, and inside sales rep along with helping her husband Paul start and build a successful business. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, and great friend known for her kindness, joyful spirit, generosity, and willingness to help. She never met a stranger and led a life of impact. She had a servant's heart and was always taking someone in, giving encouragement, working on some committee, lending a hand/ear/shoulder, etc.. She loved to visit with friends over coffee. She loved her church. She loved her grandkids. She wanted everyone to celebrate her life and not mourn her passing.

Virginia is survived by children Cynthia Young, Maclyn Sartor (Wayne), William Virdin (Lynn), Susan Virdin, grandchildren Robert (Carli), Michael (Lindsay), Dustin, Traci, Kyle, Cameron, and great-grandchildren Sara and Samantha.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Virdin and sisters Eileen Veach and Alta McNutt.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Allen Family Funeral Options. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Malakoff, 107 College Street, Malakoff, Texas 75148. A private burial will follow at the Malakoff Cemetery.
